To the Chief Musician. Set to “Do Not Destroy.” A Psalm of Asaph. A Song. We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near. | 1For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song. We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks, For Your name is near; Men declare Your wondrous works. |
“When I choose the proper time, I will judge uprightly. | 2"When I select an appointed time, It is I who judge with equity. |
The earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved; I set up its pillars firmly. Selah | 3"The earth and all who dwell in it melt; It is I who have firmly set its pillars. Selah. |
“I said to the boastful, ‘Do not deal boastfully,’ And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn. | 4"I said to the boastful, 'Do not boast,' And to the wicked, 'Do not lift up the horn; |
Do not lift up your horn on high; Do not speak with a stiff neck.’ ” | 5Do not lift up your horn on high, Do not speak with insolent pride.'" |
For exaltation comes neither from the east Nor from the west nor from the south. | 6For not from the east, nor from the west, Nor from the desert comes exaltation; |
But God is the Judge: He puts down one, And exalts another. | 7But God is the Judge; He puts down one and exalts another. |
For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, And the wine is red; It is fully mixed, and He pours it out; Surely its dregs shall all the wicked of the earth Drain and drink down. | 8For a cup is in the hand of the LORD, and the wine foams; It is well mixed, and He pours out of this; Surely all the wicked of the earth must drain and drink down its dregs. |
But I will declare forever, I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. | 9But as for me, I will declare it forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. |
“All the horns of the wicked I will also cut off, But the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.” | 10And all the horns of the wicked He will cut off, But the horns of the righteous will be lifted up. |
