To the Chief Musician. To the tune of “Death of the Son.” A Psalm of David. I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. | 1For the director of music. To the tune of "The Death of the Son." A psalm of David. I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. |
I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. | 2I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High. |
When my enemies turn back, They shall fall and perish at Your presence. | 3My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you. |
For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sat on the throne judging in righteousness. | 4For you have upheld my right and my cause, sitting enthroned as the righteous judge. |
You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their name forever and ever. | 5You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name for ever and ever. |
O enemy, destructions are finished forever! And you have destroyed cities; Even their memory has perished. | 6Endless ruin has overtaken my enemies, you have uprooted their cities; even the memory of them has perished. |
But the LORD shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for judgment. | 7The LORD reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment. |
He shall judge the world in righteousness, And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness. | 8He rules the world in righteousness and judges the peoples with equity. |
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. | 9The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. |
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. | 10Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. |
Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion! Declare His deeds among the people. | 11Sing the praises of the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done. |
When He avenges blood, He remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble. | 12For he who avenges blood remembers; he does not ignore the cries of the afflicted. |
Have mercy on me, O LORD! Consider my trouble from those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death, | 13LORD, see how my enemies persecute me! Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death, |
That I may tell of all Your praise In the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will rejoice in Your salvation. | 14that I may declare your praises in the gates of Daughter Zion, and there rejoice in your salvation. |
The nations have sunk down in the pit which they made; In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught. | 15The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden. |
The LORD is known by the judgment He executes; The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Meditation. Selah | 16The LORD is known by his acts of justice; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands. |
The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God. | 17The wicked go down to the realm of the dead, all the nations that forget God. |
For the needy shall not always be forgotten; The expectation of the poor shall not perish forever. | 18But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish. |
Arise, O LORD, Do not let man prevail; Let the nations be judged in Your sight. | 19Arise, LORD, do not let mortals triumph; let the nations be judged in your presence. |
Put them in fear, O LORD, That the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah | 20Strike them with terror, LORD; let the nations know they are only mortal. |
