| 1“You shall make an altar of acacia wood, five cubits long and five cubits wide—the altar shall be square—and its height shall be three cubits. | 1“Using acacia wood, construct a square altar 7 1/2 feet wide, 7 1/2 feet long, and 4 1/2 feet high. |
| 2You shall make its horns on its four corners; its horns shall be of one piece with it. And you shall overlay it with bronze. | 2Make horns for each of its four corners so that the horns and altar are all one piece. Overlay the altar with bronze. |
| 3Also you shall make its pans to receive its ashes, and its shovels and its basins and its forks and its firepans; you shall make all its utensils of bronze. | 3Make ash buckets, shovels, basins, meat forks, and firepans, all of bronze. |
| 4You shall make a grate for it, a network of bronze; and on the network you shall make four bronze rings at its four corners. | 4Make a bronze grating for it, and attach four bronze rings at its four corners. |
| 5You shall put it under the rim of the altar beneath, that the network may be midway up the altar. | 5Install the grating halfway down the side of the altar, under the ledge. |
| 6And you shall make poles for the altar, poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with bronze. | 6For carrying the altar, make poles from acacia wood, and overlay them with bronze. |
| 7The poles shall be put in the rings, and the poles shall be on the two sides of the altar to bear it. | 7Insert the poles through the rings on the two sides of the altar. |
| 8You shall make it hollow with boards; as it was shown you on the mountain, so shall they make it. | 8The altar must be hollow, made from planks. Build it just as you were shown on the mountain. Plans for the Courtyard |
| 9“You shall also make the court of the tabernacle. For the south side there shall be hangings for the court made of fine woven linen, one hundred cubits long for one side. | 9“Then make the courtyard for the Tabernacle, enclosed with curtains made of finely woven linen. On the south side, make the curtains 150 feet long. |
| 10And its twenty pillars and their twenty sockets shall be bronze. The hooks of the pillars and their bands shall be silver. | 10They will be held up by twenty posts set securely in twenty bronze bases. Hang the curtains with silver hooks and rings. |
| 11Likewise along the length of the north side there shall be hangings one hundred cubits long, with its twenty pillars and their twenty sockets of bronze, and the hooks of the pillars and their bands of silver. | 11Make the curtains the same on the north side—150 feet of curtains held up by twenty posts set securely in bronze bases. Hang the curtains with silver hooks and rings. |
| 12“And along the width of the court on the west side shall be hangings of fifty cubits, with their ten pillars and their ten sockets. | 12The curtains on the west end of the courtyard will be 75 feet long, supported by ten posts set into ten bases. |
| 13The width of the court on the east side shall be fifty cubits. | 13The east end of the courtyard, the front, will also be 75 feet long. |
| 14The hangings on one side of the gate shall be fifteen cubits, with their three pillars and their three sockets. | 14The courtyard entrance will be on the east end, flanked by two curtains. The curtain on the right side will be 22 1/2 feet long, supported by three posts set into three bases. |
| 15And on the other side shall be hangings of fifteen cubits, with their three pillars and their three sockets. | 15The curtain on the left side will also be 22 1/2 feet long, supported by three posts set into three bases. |
| 16“For the gate of the court there shall be a screen twenty cubits long, woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen, made by a weaver. It shall have four pillars and four sockets. | 16“For the entrance to the courtyard, make a curtain that is 30 feet long. Make it from finely woven linen, and decorate it with beautiful embroidery in blue, purple, and scarlet thread. Support it with four posts, each securely set in its own base. |
| 17All the pillars around the court shall have bands of silver; their hooks shall be of silver and their sockets of bronze. | 17All the posts around the courtyard must have silver rings and hooks and bronze bases. |
| 18The length of the court shall be one hundred cubits, the width fifty throughout, and the height five cubits, made of fine woven linen, and its sockets of bronze. | 18So the entire courtyard will be 150 feet long and 75 feet wide, with curtain walls 7 1/2 feet high, made from finely woven linen. The bases for the posts will be made of bronze. |
| 19All the utensils of the tabernacle for all its service, all its pegs, and all the pegs of the court, shall be of bronze. | 19“All the articles used in the rituals of the Tabernacle, including all the tent pegs used to support the Tabernacle and the courtyard curtains, must be made of bronze. | 20“And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to cause the lamp to burn continually. | 20“Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to keep the lamps burning continually. |
| 21In the tabernacle of meeting, outside the veil which is before the Testimony, Aaron and his sons shall tend it from evening until morning before the LORD. It shall be a statute forever to their generations on behalf of the children of Israel. | 21The lampstand will stand in the Tabernacle, in front of the inner curtain that shields the Ark of the Covenant. Aaron and his sons must keep the lamps burning in the LORD’s presence all night. This is a permanent law for the people of Israel, and it must be observed from generation to generation. |
