| 2When I was in deep trouble, I searched for the Lord. All night long I prayed, with hands lifted toward heaven, but my soul was not comforted. | 2In the day of trouble I sought the Lord; through the night my outstretched hands did not grow weary; my soul refused to be comforted. |
| 3I think of God, and I moan, overwhelmed with longing for his help. Interlude | 3I remembered You, O God, and I groaned; I mused and my spirit grew faint. Selah |
| 4You don’t let me sleep. I am too distressed even to pray! | 4You have kept my eyes from closing; I am too troubled to speak. |
