New Living Translation | English Standard Version |
Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. | 1Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer! |
How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make groundless accusations? How long will you continue your lies? Interlude | 2O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah |
You can be sure of this: The LORD set apart the godly for himself. The LORD will answer when I call to him. | 3But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him. |
Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. Interlude | 4Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah |
Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the LORD. | 5Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD. |
Many people say, “Who will show us better times?” Let your face smile on us, LORD. | 6There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD!” |
You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. | 7You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. |
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe. | 8In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. |
