New Living Translation | NET Bible |
Praise the LORD! How joyful are those who fear the LORD and delight in obeying his commands. | 1Praise the LORD! How blessed is the one who obeys the LORD, who takes great delight in keeping his commands. |
Their children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed. | 2His descendants will be powerful on the earth; the godly will be blessed. |
They themselves will be wealthy, and their good deeds will last forever. | 3His house contains wealth and riches; his integrity endures. |
Light shines in the darkness for the godly. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. | 4In the darkness a light shines for the godly, for each one who is merciful, compassionate, and just. |
Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly. | 5It goes well for the one who generously lends money, and conducts his business honestly. |
Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered. | 6For he will never be upended; others will always remember one who is just. |
They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them. | 7He does not fear bad news. He is confident; he trusts in the LORD. |
They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly. | 8His resolve is firm; he will not succumb to fear before he looks in triumph on his enemies. |
They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor. | 9He generously gives to the needy; his integrity endures. He will be vindicated and honored. |
The wicked will see this and be infuriated. They will grind their teeth in anger; they will slink away, their hopes thwarted. | 10When the wicked see this, they will worry; they will grind their teeth in frustration and melt away; the desire of the wicked will perish. |
