New Living Translation | New American Standard Bible 1995 |
Praise the LORD! How joyful are those who fear the LORD and delight in obeying his commands. | 1Praise the LORD! How blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who greatly delights in His commandments. |
Their children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed. | 2His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. |
They themselves will be wealthy, and their good deeds will last forever. | 3Wealth and riches are in his house, And his righteousness endures forever. |
Light shines in the darkness for the godly. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. | 4Light arises in the darkness for the upright; He is gracious and compassionate and righteous. |
Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly. | 5It is well with the man who is gracious and lends; He will maintain his cause in judgment. |
Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered. | 6For he will never be shaken; The righteous will be remembered forever. |
They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them. | 7He will not fear evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. |
They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly. | 8His heart is upheld, he will not fear, Until he looks with satisfaction on his adversaries. |
They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor. | 9He has given freely to the poor, His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted in honor. |
The wicked will see this and be infuriated. They will grind their teeth in anger; they will slink away, their hopes thwarted. | 10The wicked will see it and be vexed, He will gnash his teeth and melt away; The desire of the wicked will perish. |
