1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, And not only <i>so</i>, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And not only <i>this,</i> but we also celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, And patience, experience; and experience, hope: and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us. and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 6 For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For while we were still helpless, at <i>the</i> right time Christ died for the ungodly. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. For one will hardly die for a righteous person; though perhaps for the good person someone would even dare to die. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
8 But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him! 10 For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned. Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all mankind, because all sinned— Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—
13 For sin was in the world before the law was given; but sin is not taken into account when there is no law. for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not counted against <i>anyone</i> when there is no law. To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law.
14 Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who did not sin in the way that Adam transgressed. He is a pattern of the One to come. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the violation <i>committed</i> by Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.
15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many! But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. But not as the offence, so also <i>is</i> the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, <i>which is</i> by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. But the gracious gift is not like the offense. For if by the offense of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many. But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
16 Again, the gift is not like the result of the one man’s sin: The judgment that followed one sin brought condemnation, but the gift that followed many trespasses brought justification. And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. And not as <i>it was</i> by one that sinned, <i>so is</i> the gift: for the judgment <i>was</i> by one to condemnation, but the free gift <i>is</i> of many offences unto justification. The gift is not like <i>that which came</i> through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment <i>arose</i> from one <i>offense,</i> resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the gracious gift <i>arose</i> from many offenses, resulting in justification. Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.
17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive an abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ. For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) For if by the offense of the one, death reigned through the one, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!
18 So then, just as one trespass brought condemnation for all men, so also one act of righteousness brought justification and life for all men. Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. Therefore as by the offence of one <i>judgment came</i> upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one <i>the free gift came</i> upon all men unto justification of life. So then, as through one offense the result was condemnation to all mankind, so also through one act of righteousness the result was justification of life to all mankind. Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.
19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
20 The law came in so that the trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more, Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: The Law came in so that the offense would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. so that, as sin reigned in death, so also grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
