(Ezekiel 40:1-4) 1Then I looked up, and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand. | 1And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand! | 1Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, there was a man with a measuring line in his hand. | 1I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand. | 1I looked up and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand. |
2I asked, "Where are you going?" He answered me, "To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is." | 2Then I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.” | 2So I said, "Where are you going?" And he said to me, "To measure Jerusalem, to see how wide it is and how long it is." | 2Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof. | 2I asked, "Where are you going?" He answered me, "To measure Jerusalem to determine its width and length." |
3While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him | 3And behold, the angel who talked with me came forward, and another angel came forward to meet him | 3And behold, the angel who was speaking with me was going out, and another angel was coming out to meet him, | 3And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him, | 3Then the angel who was speaking with me went out, and another angel went out to meet him. |
4and said to him: "Run, tell that young man, 'Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it. | 4and said to him, “Run, say to that young man, ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of people and livestock in it. | 4and said to him, "Run, speak to that young man, saying, 'Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the multitude of men and cattle within it. | 4And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein: | 4He said to him, "Run and tell this young man: Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the number of people and livestock in it." |
5And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,' declares the LORD, 'and I will be its glory within.' | 5And I will be to her a wall of fire all around, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory in her midst.’” | 5'For I,' declares the LORD, 'will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.'" | 5For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her. | 5The declaration of the LORD: "I will be a wall of fire around it, and I will be the glory within it."" |
The Redemption of Zion
(Hosea 3:1-5) 6"Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north," declares the LORD, "for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven," declares the LORD. | 6Up! Up! Flee from the land of the north, declares the LORD. For I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, declares the LORD. | 6"Ho there! Flee from the land of the north," declares the LORD, "for I have dispersed you as the four winds of the heavens," declares the LORD. | 6Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD. | 6Get up! Leave the land of the north"--this is the LORD's declaration--"for I have scattered you like the four winds of heaven"--this is the LORD's declaration. " |
7"Come, Zion! Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!" | 7Up! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon. | 7"Ho, Zion! Escape, you who are living with the daughter of Babylon." | 7Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon. | 7Go, Zion! Escape, you who are living with Daughter Babylon." |
8For this is what the LORD Almighty says: "After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you--for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye-- | 8For thus said the LORD of hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye: | 8For thus says the LORD of hosts, "After glory He has sent me against the nations which plunder you, for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye. | 8For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. | 8For the LORD of Hosts says this: "He has sent Me for His glory against the nations who are plundering you, for anyone who touches you touches the pupil of His eye. |
9I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me. | 9“Behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me. | 9"For behold, I will wave My hand over them so that they will be plunder for their slaves. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me. | 9For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me. | 9I will move against them with My power, and they will become plunder for their own servants. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me." |
10"Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you," declares the LORD. | 10Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the LORD. | 10"Sing for joy and be glad, O daughter of Zion; for behold I am coming and I will dwell in your midst," declares the LORD. | 10Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD. | 10Daughter Zion, shout for joy and be glad, for I am coming to dwell among you"--this is the LORD's declaration. " |
11"Many nations will be joined with the LORD in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you. | 11And many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. | 11"Many nations will join themselves to the LORD in that day and will become My people. Then I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. | 11And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee. | 11Many nations will join themselves to the LORD on that day and become My people. I will dwell among you, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you. |
12The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem. | 12And the LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.” | 12"The LORD will possess Judah as His portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem. | 12And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again. | 12The LORD will take possession of Judah as His portion in the Holy Land, and He will once again choose Jerusalem. |
13Be still before the LORD, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling." | 13Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling. | 13"Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD; for He is aroused from His holy habitation." | 13Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation. | 13Let all people be silent before the LORD, for He is coming from His holy dwelling." |
