Apply servant's request to daily faith?
How can we apply the servant's request to our daily walk with God?

Gathering the Scene

“Then one of them said, ‘Please come with your servants.’ ‘I will go,’ he replied.” (2 Kings 6:3)

A small band of prophets planned to enlarge their living quarters. Before they lifted an axe, one made a quiet request to Elisha, God’s spokesman: “Come with us.” That simple plea still shapes how we pursue everyday life with the Lord.

Why the Request Matters

• Dependence—They would not trust their own skill or strength without God’s representative present.

• Presence—They valued God’s nearness more than speed or convenience.

• Partnership—They expected divine involvement in routine work, not just spectacular miracles.

• Assurance—Elisha’s “I will go” gave confidence that the endeavor was under God’s watchful care.

Threads Woven Through Scripture

Exodus 33:15—Moses: “If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here.”

Psalm 16:8—“I have set the LORD always before me.”

Matthew 28:20—“I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Hebrews 13:5—“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Applying the Servant’s Request Today

Invite His Presence

• Begin plans—large or small—by verbally welcoming the Lord’s guidance.

• Keep a running conversation: “Lord, go with me into this meeting,” “Stay beside me while I parent,” “Walk with me through this grocery aisle.”

Rely on His Direction

• Pause before decisions; ask, “Would You approve of this next step?” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

• Expect Him to adjust your course; interruptions may be His re-routing.

Pursue Daily Fellowship

• Read and meditate on Scripture, hearing your Elisha—Christ Himself—speak into ordinary moments (John 15:4).

• Cultivate habits that keep your heart attuned: worship music, Scripture memory, silent gratitude.

Work in Partnership

• Offer each task as service unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23-24).

• Look for ways He multiplies small efforts, just as an iron axe head later floated by His power (2 Kings 6:6).

Rest in His Assurance

• When anxiety rises, recall His promise, “I will go” (Isaiah 41:10).

• Let His faithful presence quiet the fear of failure or inadequacy.

Step-by-Step Practice

1. Morning: speak the servant’s words—“Please come with Your servant today.”

2. Midday: re-invite Him before a pivotal conversation or project.

3. Evening: recount where you sensed His companionship; thank Him for each moment.

Living the Invitation

The prophets would not swing a single axe without Elisha nearby. Likewise, we refuse to navigate study, career, family, or ministry without Christ’s abiding presence. Each “Please come with Your servant” keeps us humble, purposeful, and protected, turning ordinary days into shared adventures with our ever-present Lord.
