Center God's laws in daily choices?
How can we ensure God's commandments are central in our daily decision-making?

A Freshly–Written Law, a New Opportunity

“I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; and you are to place them in the ark.” — Deuteronomy 10:2

God did not ask Moses to chisel the commandments this time; He personally inscribed them and told Moses to set them in the ark—the very center of Israel’s worship life. The scene reveals a pattern for keeping God’s word at the center of every choice today.

Why the Ark Matters to Us

• Physical center of the camp → Our choices need a recognizable center.

• Guarded by priests → Our hearts must actively protect truth (Proverbs 4:23).

• Carried wherever Israel went → Commandments travel into every context, not just “religious” moments (Deuteronomy 6:6–9).

Timeless Practices for Centering His Commandments

1. Hide the Word Inside

Psalm 119:11 — “I have hidden Your word in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

• Daily memorization and meditation ensure the commandment speaks before impulse does.

2. Keep the Word in View

Deuteronomy 6:8–9 — “Bind them as a sign on your hand… write them on the doorposts.”

• Post verses on mirrors, phone lock screens, dashboards—visible prompts guide split-second decisions.

3. Consult the Word Before Acting

Joshua 1:8 — “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth… then you will make your way prosperous.”

• Pause, pray through a passage, then decide. A five-minute delay can rescue an entire day.

4. Obey Immediately, Completely

James 1:22 — “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.”

• Partial obedience moves the commandments from the center to the margins.

5. Filter Every Option Through Scripture

Proverbs 3:5–6; 2 Timothy 3:16.

• Ask: Does this align with God’s revealed will? If not, the option is off the table.

Daily Decision-Making Checklist

• Have I begun today reading or recalling specific Scripture?

• Is any verse shaping the way I plan my schedule?

• Before major steps, have I measured them against clear commands (e.g., truth-telling, purity, generosity)?

• Am I allowing emotions or popular opinion to outrank Scripture?

• Will this choice make obedience easier or harder tomorrow?

Reinforcement From Christ Himself

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” — John 14:15

Love is proven in obedience, and obedience flows from keeping His words central. As the stone tablets sat in the ark, so His living words belong enthroned in the heart, steering every thought, motive, and action.

What does 'put them in the ark' signify about God's word's preservation?
