Further Evidence of Purposeful Travel • Luke 9 : 51 — “When the days were nearing for Him to be taken up, He resolutely set out for Jerusalem.” • John 4 : 4 — “Now He had to pass through Samaria.” • Mark 1 : 38 — “Let us go on to the neighboring towns, so I may preach there also; that is why I have come.” Scripture presents each step as intentional, never aimless. Why It Matters for Us • Proverbs 16 : 9 — “A man’s heart plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.” • Ephesians 5 : 15-16 — “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Following Christ means allowing every commute, errand, and trip to serve kingdom purposes. Practical Ways to Travel Purposefully 1. Commit the itinerary to God before leaving home (Psalm 37 : 5). 2. Look for divine appointments along the way—people to honor, help, or evangelize (Acts 8 : 26-35). 3. Keep margins in the schedule so interruptions become ministry moments rather than annoyances (Luke 8 : 40-48). 4. Practice hospitality even on the move—share a seat, offer directions, extend kindness (Romans 12 : 10-13). 5. Guard the mind during transit with worship or Scripture memory instead of idle scrolling (Colossians 3 : 16). 6. Evaluate trips by kingdom stewardship—time, money, creation care, and witness (1 Corinthians 10 : 31). 7. End each day thanking the Lord for every guided step (Psalm 37 : 23-24). Living Out the Pattern • Daily commutes can become corridors of prayer for neighborhoods we pass. • Family vacations can include intentional breaks to serve a local church or missionary. • Business travel can carry gospel conversations to airports, hotels, and clients otherwise unreached. • Even walks around the block can turn into worship as we notice God’s handiwork and intercede for neighbors. Encouragement for the Journey Jesus never wasted a mile; He also never hurried outside the Father’s will.
