How can we honor God who "alone is immortal" in our daily lives? Verse Focus: 1 Timothy 6:16 “who alone is immortal and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen, nor can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.” Who God Is: the Immortal King • God’s life is underived, endless, and unthreatened. • Psalm 90:2—“From everlasting to everlasting You are God.” • Revelation 1:18—Jesus holds “the keys of Death and of Hades,” proving death’s defeat. • Because He never fades, His promises never expire, and His lordship never weakens. Why His Immortality Shapes Our Daily Life • The One we serve is eternally alive; therefore every moment matters eternally. • Our limited lifespan gains meaning when aligned with His limitless life. • Honoring Him becomes the highest, most enduring purpose we can pursue. Honoring the Immortal God through Worship • Begin and end each day acknowledging His endless worth (Psalm 104:33). • Sing truth that exalts His sovereignty and permanence (Psalm 145:1-2). • Integrate gratitude into ordinary tasks—commute, chores, study, work (Colossians 3:17). Honoring Him through Obedience & Holiness • Submit choices to His unchanging commands (John 14:15). • Flee transient temptations; they clash with His eternal nature (1 John 2:17). • Practice regular Scripture intake—His living word anchors our fleeting days (Hebrews 4:12). • Keep short accounts with sin, confessing quickly (1 John 1:9). Honoring Him through Stewardship of Time & Resources • Time: Number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12). • Body: Present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God (Romans 12:1). • Money: Invest in kingdom causes that carry eternal dividends (Matthew 6:19-21). • Talents: Employ gifts for the building up of His church (1 Peter 4:10-11). Honoring Him through Relationships & Witness • Love others with Christ’s self-giving love (John 13:34-35). • Speak of the hope of eternal life naturally, humbly, and boldly (1 Peter 3:15). • Forgive as He forgave us—reflecting His boundless mercy (Ephesians 4:32). • Serve the marginalized, showing His undying compassion (James 1:27). Honoring Him through Hope & Perseverance • Fix eyes on “the crown of life” promised to those who endure (James 1:12). • Encourage one another daily, reminding each other of the coming resurrection (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). • Stand firm in trials, knowing that suffering cannot touch the life He guards for us (2 Timothy 4:18). • Rejoice that our labor in the Lord is never in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). Living Today for the Endless Tomorrow Every routine act—whether washing dishes or presenting at work—can echo 1 Timothy 6:16 when done in conscious tribute to the God “who alone is immortal.” Let the certainty of His undying life shape every motive, every word, every decision, until the eternal King is honored in the ordinary, and the ordinary is lifted into eternity. |
