How can God meet our needs today?
In what ways can we trust God to provide for our needs today?

Exodus 12:36—A Snapshot of God’s Provision

“And the LORD gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted their request; thus they plundered the Egyptians.”

What God Did Then

• Bent the hearts of Israel’s oppressors, turning resistance into generosity

• Supplied wealth (silver, gold, clothing) for a nation that had nothing but the promise of freedom

• Provided resources Israel would later use for worship (Exodus 25:2–7) and daily life in the wilderness

What This Reveals About God’s Character

• He is the ultimate Source—needs are met by His hand, even when channeled through unlikely people

• His timing is perfect—provision arrived the very night Israel walked out of Egypt

• His gifts are purposeful—He supplies for both practical needs and future obedience

How We Can Expect God to Provide Today

• Moving hearts on our behalf—employers, neighbors, even former adversaries (Proverbs 21:1)

• Opening unexpected streams of income or resources (Deuteronomy 8:18)

• Giving favor in critical moments—job interviews, medical needs, legal matters (Psalm 90:17)

• Equipping us for every good work, not merely survival (2 Corinthians 9:8)

New Testament Echoes of the Same Promise

Philippians 4:19—“And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”

Matthew 6:31–33—seek His kingdom first; “all these things will be added unto you.”

Romans 8:32—if He gave His Son, He will “graciously give us all things.”

Practical Ways to Lean Into His Provision

• Pray specifically—Israel “requested” of the Egyptians (Exodus 12:35); ask God for concrete needs

• Obey promptly—Israel walked out the same night; step forward when God opens doors

• Live generously—what He supplies isn’t hoarded but shared (Acts 2:45)

• Rest from anxiety—trust replaces frantic striving (Matthew 6:34)

• Recall past faithfulness—keep a record of answered prayer as Israel remembered the Exodus

Promises to Anchor Your Heart

Psalm 23:1—“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

Psalm 34:10—“Those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.”

Lamentations 3:22–23—His mercies “are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!”

How does Exodus 12:36 connect with God's promises to Abraham in Genesis?
