How can faith replace law today?
In what ways can we rely on faith rather than the law today?

A snapshot of Galatians 3:24

“So the law became our guardian to lead us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” (Galatians 3:24)

Why God Gave the Law

• It functioned as a “guardian”—a moral tutor showing us God’s standards.

• It exposed sin (Romans 7:7) and our inability to meet those standards.

• It pointed forward to the One who would fulfill it perfectly (Matthew 5:17).

What Changed When Christ Came

• Christ fulfilled the law and brought it to its intended goal: “For Christ is the end of the law, to bring righteousness to everyone who believes.” (Romans 10:4)

• We now stand “justified by faith” rather than by keeping rules we could never fully keep (Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:8-9).

Practical Ways to Rely on Faith Rather Than Law Today

1. Trust Christ’s finished work, not personal performance

– Rest in His righteousness credited to you (2 Corinthians 5:21).

2. Live by the Spirit’s guidance

– “If you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” (Galatians 5:18)

– Daily surrender decisions, attitudes, and plans to His leading.

3. Measure growth by Christ-likeness, not rule-keeping

– Ask, “Am I displaying the fruit of the Spirit?” (Galatians 5:22-23).

4. Draw near to God with confidence

– “Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith.” (Hebrews 10:22)

– Approach Him freely, knowing the barrier of sin is removed.

5. Extend grace to others

– Forgive and serve because you’ve been forgiven and served by Christ (Colossians 3:13).

6. Worship from the heart

– Genuine gratitude, not ritual, pleases God (John 4:24).

7. Rest in secure adoption

– You are a son or daughter, not a slave under law (Galatians 4:4-7).

Is Obedience Still Important?

• Absolutely—but it flows out of love and gratitude, not fear of condemnation.

• “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Ephesians 2:10).

• Obedience becomes a joyful response to the grace we’ve received.

Daily Takeaway

Because the law has led us to Christ, our standing with God rests on faith alone. We now live empowered by the Spirit, motivated by love, and confident in grace—no longer measuring ourselves by a checklist but by a growing relationship with the Savior who fulfilled the law for us.
