In what ways can our lives lead others to glorify God today? The Spark from Scripture “And they glorified God because of me.” (Galatians 1:24) Setting the Scene Paul had terrorized the church, yet Christ redeemed him, sending shockwaves through the believers in Judea. When they heard what God had done, they couldn’t help but break into praise. That same dynamic—lives so clearly changed by Jesus that observers give God the credit—remains God’s design for us today. Ways Our Lives Can Trigger Praise to God • Visible Transformation – Let old sins stay buried; let new life be obvious (2 Corinthians 5:17). – As He crafts us into “His workmanship” (Ephesians 2:10), people notice the difference. • Consistent Good Works – “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) – Acts of mercy, generosity, and service are tangible arrows pointing to God. • Honorable Conduct in a Watching World – “Conduct yourselves with such honor…that…they may see your good deeds and glorify God.” (1 Peter 2:12) – Integrity at work, faithfulness in marriage, and honesty online all silence critics and direct praise upward. • Grace-Filled Speech – Speak words “seasoned with salt” (Colossians 4:6) that build up rather than tear down (Ephesians 4:29). – A gentle answer in a harsh culture stands out and reflects Christ’s character. • Perseverance through Trials – Suffering handled with faith showcases “treasure in jars of clay” (2 Corinthians 4:7) and leads onlookers to marvel at God’s sustaining power (1 Peter 4:16). • Fruitful Living – “This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit.” (John 15:8) – Love, joy, peace, and the rest of the Spirit’s fruit turn everyday moments into living billboards for God’s greatness. • Joyful Gratitude in the Ordinary – Whether eating, drinking, or anything else, do it “to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31) – A thankful attitude in mundane routines quietly proclaims that God is worthy of praise. • Humble Dependence on Christ – “Apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) – When success is credited to God, not self, observers see who truly deserves the glory. Putting It All Together As with Paul, the gospel writes a before-and-after story in every believer. When transformation shows up in character, deeds, words, and endurance, people will inevitably say, “Only God could do that,” and He will receive the honor He deserves. |
