How can we aid modern gospel spreaders?
In what ways can we support those who spread the gospel today?

From Luke 9:6: A Pattern to Imitate

“So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere.” (Luke 9:6)

The verse shows messengers on the move, meeting needs and sharing Christ. We can’t all travel, but we can all take part in their mission.

Pray Continually

• Intercede for boldness, safety, and open doors (Colossians 4:3).

• Ask the Lord of the harvest to raise up more workers (Luke 10:2).

• Pray specific Scripture over them; nothing strengthens like knowing friends are pleading God’s promises on their behalf.

Give Generously

• “The one taught the word must share all good things with his teacher.” (Galatians 6:6)

• Financial gifts keep the lights on, fuel in the car, and Bibles in hands.

• Paul thanked the Philippians because their support produced “fruit that abounds to your account.” (Philippians 4:17) — your giving is spiritual investment.

Open Your Home

• Hospitality refreshes weary servants (Acts 16:15).

• A spare room, a warm meal, shared laundry—small comforts speak volumes.

• Jesus promised reward even for “a cup of cold water.” (Matthew 10:42)

Send and Equip

• Training, resources, and short-term teams extend their reach.

Romans 10:15 reminds us that preachers need sending: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

• Provide books, technology, and practical tools that sharpen their ministry.

Encourage and Stay Connected

• Regular emails, texts, and video calls let them know they’re not forgotten.

• Celebrate victories; mourn setbacks; share your own walk to remind them the gospel is advancing at home too.

• 3 John 8 urges: “We ought therefore to support such men, so that we may be fellow workers for the truth.”

Defend the Work

• Stand up for them when misunderstandings or opposition arise (Philippians 1:7).

• Protect reputations, supply legal counsel if needed, and speak well of the gospel they proclaim.

Live the Gospel Locally

• Authentic witness at home validates the message abroad.

• When supporters live holy, compassionate lives, missionaries gain confidence their partners aren’t undermining the mission.

Celebrate and Hold Accountable

• Invite reports; ask for stories of God’s faithfulness.

• Rejoice together, correct gently when necessary, and keep the relationship transparent—partnership, not patronage.

God uses goers and senders alike; when we engage in these ways, we join the disciples’ village-to-village journey, carrying the same unchanging good news into every corner of today’s world.
