How can we find the lost in our community?
What actions can we take to "seek the lost" in our communities?

Key Verse

Luke 19:10: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Grasping Christ’s Heart for the Lost

• Jesus’ mission statement is crystal clear: He came to seek and save.

• Our calling mirrors His—actively moving toward those who do not yet know Him.

• The verb “seek” is intentional, deliberate pursuit; it cannot remain theoretical.

Why We Go

Matthew 28:19-20—“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”

2 Corinthians 5:20—“Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us.”

Ezekiel 34:16—God Himself models seeking: “I will seek the lost…”

These passages anchor outreach in obedience, love, and representation of Christ’s own pursuit.

Practical Ways to Seek the Lost in Our Communities

1. Cultivate Compassionate Eyes

Matthew 9:36—Jesus “was moved with compassion.”

• Pray for eyes that notice spiritual need; compassion fuels action.

2. Live Noticeably Different Lives

Colossians 4:5-6—“Act wisely toward outsiders… Let your speech always be gracious…”

• Authentic kindness, integrity, and hope create curiosity about the gospel.

3. Build Intentional Relationships

Luke 15:1-2 shows Jesus eating with sinners.

• Share meals, attend neighborhood events, volunteer locally—be present where unbelievers actually live.

4. Share the Gospel Clearly

Romans 10:14-15 highlights the necessity of verbal proclamation.

• Use simple, Scripture-centered explanations of sin, substitution, and salvation (e.g., Romans 3:23; 6:23; 5:8; 10:9).

5. Offer Practical Help

James 2:15-16 warns against empty words when needs are unmet.

• Food drives, tutoring, or crisis support open doors for gospel conversations.

6. Invite, Include, Integrate

John 1:46—Philip’s “Come and see” to Nathanael is still effective.

• Extend invitations to church, Bible study, or family gatherings; then walk beside newcomers so they feel at home.

7. Use Your Gifts Strategically

1 Peter 4:10—“Use whatever gift you have received to serve others.”

• Musicians, cooks, tech people, organizers—deploy talents in outreach efforts and community events.

8. Disciple New Believers Immediately

Matthew 28:20—“teaching them to obey.”

• Pair new converts with mature believers, covering foundations like assurance, prayer, and Scripture reading.

9. Pray Persistently for Individuals

1 Timothy 2:1-4 urges intercession “for all people… God… desires all to be saved.”

• Keep a list of unreached neighbors by name; pray for openness and readiness.

10. Partner with the Local Church

Acts 2:42-47 shows collective witness.

• Outreach teams, evangelism training, community projects—working together multiplies impact.

Encouragement to Keep Going

Luke 15:7: “There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous ones who do not need to repent.”

Every step toward the lost echoes heaven’s priorities. Press on, trusting the Lord of the harvest to draw many to Himself through your faithful seeking.
