How can we honor God with gifts today?
In what ways can we honor God with our "holy gifts" today?

Setting the Scene

Exodus 28:38: “It must be worn on Aaron’s forehead, so that Aaron may bear the guilt connected with the sacred offerings that the Israelites consecrate—all their holy gifts. It is to be on his forehead continually, so that they may be accepted before the LORD.”

God required a visible, continual reminder—“HOLY TO THE LORD”—so Israel’s gifts would be accepted. Today, the High Priest’s ministry is perfectly fulfilled in Jesus (Hebrews 7:24–27), yet the call to consecrate “holy gifts” remains.

What Are “Holy Gifts” for Us?

• Any resource, ability, or act deliberately set apart for God’s pleasure and purposes

• Tangible possessions (Proverbs 3:9)

• Spiritual gifts and talents (1 Corinthians 12:7)

• Time and opportunities (Ephesians 5:15–16)

• Words of praise and thanksgiving (Hebrews 13:15)

Ways We Can Honor God with Holy Gifts Today

1. Steward Money Faithfully

• Give first, not last (Malachi 3:10).

• Support gospel work and the needy (2 Corinthians 9:6–8).

2. Offer Our Bodies as Living Sacrifices

Romans 12:1: “offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God.”

• Purity in conduct, integrity at work, compassion in relationships.

3. Exercise Spiritual Gifts to Build Up Others

1 Peter 4:10: “As good stewards of the manifold grace of God, each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve one another.”

• Teach, encourage, give, lead—whatever He’s entrusted, aim it toward edification.

4. Redeem Time for Kingdom Purposes

• Schedule margin for prayer, Scripture, fellowship, service.

Ephesians 5:16: “making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”

5. Speak Sacrificial Praise

Hebrews 13:15: continual gratitude acknowledges His worth.

• Public worship, private devotion, everyday conversations.

6. Share Material Goods Generously

Hebrews 13:16: “Do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

• Hospitality, relief giving, mentoring skills.

7. Maintain Visible Holiness

• Aaron’s plate was seen; our holiness shows in lifestyle.

Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Encouragement for the Week

Jesus, our perfect High Priest, guarantees our acceptance. As we consciously set apart every resource—money, moments, abilities, words—He transforms them into “holy gifts” that honor the Father and bless the world.
