How can we inspire others to join the LORD?
In what ways can we encourage others to "join themselves to the LORD"?

Setting the Scene

“ They will ask the way to Zion; they will turn their faces toward it. They will come and join themselves to the LORD in an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.” (Jeremiah 50:5)

“ And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD to minister to Him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be His servants— all who keep the Sabbath without profaning it and who hold fast My covenant—” (Isaiah 56:6)

Why Joining the Lord Matters

• It secures an “everlasting covenant” (Jeremiah 50:5).

• It brings intimate service and love for His name (Isaiah 56:6).

• It moves people from “far off” to being “brought near by the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2:13).

Practical Ways to Encourage Others

1. Live as a Walking Signpost

• Consistent joy and peace attract attention (Philippians 4:4–7).

• Integrity in everyday dealings proves Christ’s transforming power (Titus 2:7–8).

2. Speak of Hope Naturally

• Share personal stories of God’s faithfulness; testimony clears a path to Zion (Psalm 66:16).

• Keep the gospel simple—creation, fall, redemption, response (1 Corinthians 15:3–4).

• “Always be prepared to give a defense… with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15).

3. Open the Scriptures Together

• Invite people to read a short passage; let God’s voice be heard firsthand (Romans 10:17).

• Highlight prophecies fulfilled in Christ (Isaiah 53; Luke 24:27).

• Show the covenant thread from Genesis to Revelation.

4. Create Welcoming Rhythms

• Mealtimes that include prayer and gratitude (Acts 2:46).

• Small groups where questions and doubts are heard without shaming (Colossians 4:6).

• Regular worship gatherings that exalt Christ and explain His work (Hebrews 10:24–25).

5. Serve Shoulder to Shoulder

• Invite unbelieving friends to join in a service project; compassion opens hearts (Matthew 5:16).

• Let them see believers loving “in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:18).

• De-brief afterward, connecting the act of service to the Servant King.

6. Model Covenant Commitment

• Honor marriage vows, church membership, and promises—mirroring God’s unfailing covenant (Malachi 2:15; Ephesians 5:25).

• Celebrate baptisms and communion publicly; explain their meaning (Romans 6:3–4; 1 Corinthians 11:26).

• Mark spiritual milestones—answered prayers, healed relationships, restored prodigals—and give God the credit.

Living Invitations

• Hospitality: a seat at your table often becomes a step toward God’s throne.

• Intercession: name friends before the Lord; He alone draws hearts (John 6:44).

• Perseverance: keep loving, even when interest seems minimal (Galatians 6:9).

Words That Point to Him

• “Come and see” (John 1:46).

• “Taste and see that the LORD is good” (Psalm 34:8).

• “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31).

The Outcome We Long For

• People turning their faces toward Zion.

• Hearts bound to the Lord in an everlasting covenant.

• A growing family of worshipers from every nation who “love the name of the LORD” (Isaiah 56:6).
