How can we trust God for our share?
In what ways can we trust God for our "allotment" in life?

Our Anchor Verse

Psalm 16:5: “The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; You have made my lot secure.”

What “Allotment” Covers

• the circumstances into which you were born

• abilities, opportunities, resources, relationships

• present trials and future hopes

• the eternal inheritance promised in Christ (1 Peter 1:4)

Why His Allotment Is Always Good

• He assigns it in love (Jeremiah 31:3).

• He sees the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10).

• He cannot make a mistake (Deuteronomy 32:4).

• He ties every portion to His larger saving plan (Romans 8:28).

Ways to Trust Him With Today’s Portion

• Receive it gratefully

– “Give thanks in every circumstance” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

– Gratitude shifts the focus from what I lack to Who provides.

• Rest in His security

– “You have made my lot secure” (Psalm 16:5).

– Nothing can slip from His hand (John 10:28–29).

• Refuse comparison

– Peter asked about John’s future; Jesus said, “What is that to you? You follow Me!” (John 21:21-22).

– Envy signals distrust of God’s wisdom.

• Steward what you have

– Parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30): faithfulness, not size of portfolio, earns commendation.

– “Each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve others” (1 Peter 4:10).

• Seek daily guidance

– “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:6).

– Today’s obedience positions you for tomorrow’s assignment.

• Embrace sanctifying trials

– “This light and momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17).

– Hard allotments are chisels shaping Christlikeness (James 1:2-4).

• Anchor hope in the ultimate portion

– “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him” (Lamentations 3:24).

– Land, job, health may shift; Christ remains (Hebrews 13:8).

Living Out the Trust

• Speak truth to your heart: repeat Psalm 16:5 morning and night.

• List current blessings and challenges as “from His hand,” committing each back to Him.

• Serve others with your present resources, proving you believe God will refill the cup He assigned you.

God’s allotment is not random; it is a hand-tailored gift meant to draw you closer to the Giver. Walk in it confidently, knowing He “has made your lot secure.”
