How can we use help when needed?
In what ways can we apply "help in our time of need"?

Holding Fast to Hebrews 4:16

“Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)

Why the Throne of Grace Matters

• Christ, our High Priest, sits enthroned (Hebrews 4:14–15).

• Mercy answers the guilt of sin; grace empowers present obedience.

• The invitation is continual—“approach,” not just once, but whenever need arises.

Kinds of Need—and the Help God Supplies

• Guilt and Shame → “receive mercy” (Psalm 103:12).

• Weakness and Weariness → “find grace” (Isaiah 40:29–31).

• Anxiety and Fear → guarding peace (Philippians 4:6–7).

• Temptation’s Pull → promised escape (1 Corinthians 10:13).

• Confusion and Decision-making → generous wisdom (James 1:5).

• Material Lack → faithful provision (Matthew 6:31–33).

• Spiritual Opposition → armor and victory (Ephesians 6:10–11).

Practical Ways to Apply the Promise Today

1. Recognize the need—name it before the Lord.

2. Draw near immediately in prayer, not after “getting it together.”

3. Open Scripture; read until a verse anchors your heart.

4. Affirm Christ’s finished work: He “is able to help” (Hebrews 2:18).

5. Receive mercy—accept the full pardon purchased at the cross.

6. Ask specifically for grace: strength, insight, courage, or patience.

7. Expect divine timing; wait in trust rather than panic.

8. Obey any clear prompting that arises from the Word.

9. Involve the body of Christ—share the burden, invite intercession.

10. Thank God aloud; gratitude fuels faith for the next need.

Living Continually Under His Care

Because Jesus “ever lives to intercede” (Hebrews 7:25), every moment of pressure becomes an opportunity to experience fresh mercy and empowering grace. Run to His throne—help is already waiting.
