How can you spread salvation?
How can you personally contribute to spreading salvation as described in Acts 13:47?

The Clear Mandate from Acts 13:47

“ For the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ” (Acts 13:47)

This command is not reserved for Paul and Barnabas alone; it applies to every believer today, calling each of us to shine the light of Christ so that others may be saved.

Understanding Our Role as Light

• Light reveals what is hidden—our words and actions uncover the truth of Christ to those still in darkness (Matthew 5:14-16).

• Light guides travelers—our consistent testimony points others toward the path of life (John 14:6; Psalm 119:105).

• Light dispels fear—our confident hope in Christ calms anxious hearts and invites them to trust Him (2 Timothy 1:7).

Practical Ways to Shine Salvation

Personal Witness

• Share your salvation story simply and clearly; people relate to personal experience (1 Peter 3:15).

• Keep a short, Scripture-anchored explanation of the gospel ready (Romans 3:23; 6:23; 10:9-10).

Everyday Conversation

• Bring up God’s goodness naturally—thank Him aloud for everyday blessings.

• Ask friends how you can pray for them, then follow up; this shows genuine care and opens spiritual dialogue.

Acts of Service

• Meet practical needs—food, childcare, errands—demonstrating Christ’s love in action (James 2:15-16).

• Volunteer in community ministries where the gospel is clearly presented.

Strategic Giving

• Support missionaries and biblically faithful ministries that take salvation to unreached peoples (Philippians 4:15-17).

• Allocate a specific portion of your income for evangelistic efforts and church outreach.

Intentional Hospitality

• Invite neighbors or coworkers over for a meal; relationships built at the table create space for gospel conversations (Luke 5:29-32).

• Offer rides to church events or Bible studies.

Persistent Prayer

• Pray by name for unsaved relatives, friends, and global people groups (1 Timothy 2:1-4).

• Ask God to send more workers into His harvest (Matthew 9:37-38).

Disciple-Making

• Meet regularly with new believers to study Scripture, model obedience, and equip them to reach others (2 Timothy 2:2).

• Encourage multiplication—every disciple becoming a discipler.

Public Stand for Truth

• Speak graciously yet firmly on moral issues, anchoring your stance in clear biblical teaching (Ephesians 4:15).

• Refuse to compromise on the exclusivity of Christ for salvation (Acts 4:12).

Drawing Strength from Promises

• “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16).

• “You are a chosen people… that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9).

• “Behold, I will make you a light to the nations, to bring My salvation to the ends of the earth” (Isaiah 49:6)—the very prophecy echoed in Acts 13:47, affirming God’s unchanging plan.

Encouragement to Step Forward

God’s Word is literal, reliable, and sufficient. Embrace the command of Acts 13:47 with confidence: the same Lord who made you a light will empower your witness. Step into daily opportunities, trust the Spirit to work through you, and watch salvation reach farther—one conversation, one act of love, one soul at a time.

In what ways can our church embody being 'a light' in our community?
