How do we see God's power daily?
In what ways can we recognize God's power in our daily lives?

Setting the Scene

Psalm 68 pictures God as a victorious King marching before His people. Verse 8 pauses to show how creation itself responds when He draws near:

“the earth trembled; the heavens poured down rain before God, the One on Sinai, before God, the God of Israel.” (Psalm 68:8)

Unpacking the Verse

• “the earth trembled” – His presence shakes what seems unshakable (cf. Exodus 19:16–18).

• “the heavens poured down rain” – He commands the skies to open, sustaining life on the ground (cf. Job 5:10; Isaiah 55:10).

• “before God, the One on Sinai” – The same covenant-keeping God of Exodus is still active.

Recognizing God’s Power in Daily Life

1. In Creation’s Rhythms

• Sunrise, tide, gravity, thunder—each steady pattern echoes “the earth trembled.”

Colossians 1:17: “in Him all things hold together.”

2. In Provision

• Every drop of rain, every meal on the table is a personal gift (Acts 14:17).

Matthew 6:26 reminds that He feeds the birds; how much more His children.

3. In His Word

Hebrews 4:12: living, active, sharper than any sword—Scripture pierces hearts today just as Sinai’s mountain quaked.

Isaiah 55:11 guarantees it never returns empty.

4. In Salvation and Transformation

Romans 1:16 calls the gospel “the power of God for salvation.”

• Addictions broken, relationships healed, sinners made saints—modern tremors of Psalm 68:8.

5. In Everyday Protection

Psalm 121:7–8 promises keeping from evil “both now and forevermore.”

• Often unseen, like an invisible quake that reroutes danger.

6. In Weakness and Suffering

2 Corinthians 12:9: His power is perfected in weakness.

• When strength runs out but grace remains, we feel the ground shake under different feet—His, not ours.

Practical Ways to Stay Alert to His Power

• Pause outside: listen for wind, watch clouds form, and thank Him for commanding both sky and soil.

• Keep a gratitude journal—note daily provisions that could only come from His hand.

• Memorize a verse weekly; expect it to “tremble” your attitudes.

• Share salvation stories—your own and others’—to rehearse His might.

• When trials hit, deliberately say, “This is where His strength shows up best,” and look for it.

Living in Awareness

The God who made Sinai shudder still inhabits today’s schedule. Commuter traffic, family dinners, hospital rooms, and quiet bedrooms can all feel the aftershocks of Psalm 68:8. Watch, listen, and let every tremor and raindrop remind you: He is here, and His power has not diminished.
