How do we share in His resurrection now?
In what ways can we experience the "likeness of His resurrection" today?

Our Union with Christ’s Resurrection

Romans 6:5 ties our present experience to Christ’s historical resurrection: “For if we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection.”

• The union is already true; we are “united with Him” now.

• Because the resurrection actually happened, its power reaches every believer’s life today (Ephesians 2:4-6).

Walking in Newness of Life

Romans 6:4: “...just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life.”

• New appetites: 2 Corinthians 5:17 – the old passes away.

• New direction: Colossians 3:1 – seek things above.

• New identity: Galatians 2:20 – “Christ lives in me.”

Freedom from Sin’s Dominion

Romans 6:6-7: “Our old self was crucified with Him... that we should no longer be slaves to sin.”

• The resurrection life breaks sin’s chains, not just forgives the record.

• We fight from victory, not for it (Romans 6:14).

• Practical outcome: present your bodies “as instruments of righteousness” (Romans 6:13).

Living by Resurrection Power

Romans 8:11: “He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who dwells in you.”

• Same Spirit, same power—active now.

• Strength for obedience (Philippians 2:13).

• Courage for witness (Acts 4:33).

A Foretaste of Coming Glory

Philippians 3:20-21 promises a future bodily resurrection, yet we taste it now:

• Inner renewal daily (2 Corinthians 4:16).

• Unshakable hope while groaning for full redemption (Romans 8:23).

• Assurance: “We shall also bear the likeness of the heavenly man.” (1 Corinthians 15:49)

Daily Practices That Cultivate Resurrection Living

• Renew the mind with Scripture to align thoughts with risen reality (Romans 12:2).

• Reckon yourself dead to sin, alive to God each morning (Romans 6:11).

• Yield to the Spirit’s promptings; His power works as we depend (Galatians 5:16).

• Engage in corporate worship—celebration of the risen Christ fuels faith (Hebrews 10:24-25).

• Serve sacrificially; resurrection life overflows for others (1 Peter 4:10-11).

Through these avenues we presently experience “the likeness of His resurrection,” living proof that Christ is alive and reigning within His people.

How does Romans 6:5 connect with Galatians 2:20 about living in Christ?
