How does faith affect trust in God's plans?
What role does faith play in trusting God's future plans for His people?

Setting the Scene in Zechariah 14:10

• “All the land will be changed into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. But Jerusalem will be raised up and remain in its place…”

• God foresees a dramatic geographical leveling yet lifts Jerusalem high—an actual, physical event He alone can accomplish.

• The verse sits in a chapter detailing the Day of the LORD when He personally intervenes, judges, and restores.

Faith Sees the Physical and the Prophetic

• Trust accepts that the flattening of valleys and the raising of Jerusalem will truly happen; faith treats God’s blueprint as already settled reality (Hebrews 11:1).

Isaiah 40:4 echoes the same future topography: “Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill made low”. Two prophets, one promise—faith knits them together.

• What looks impossible to a human surveyor is routine in heaven’s plans; faith refuses to downsize what God can do.

Why Our Trust Must Rest on God’s Character

• He is truthful: “God is not a man, that He should lie” (Numbers 23:19).

• He is powerful: “I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too difficult for Me?” (Jeremiah 32:27).

• He is purposeful: “For I know the plans I have for you… plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Practical Markers of Faith in God’s Future Plans

1. Confidence over anxiety

Romans 8:28 assures us that “all things work together for good.”

– Knowing Jerusalem’s literal elevation reminds us that our own future will also be lifted in His timing.

2. Obedience over hesitation

Proverbs 3:5-6 calls us to trust and acknowledge Him; faith steps forward before the ground even looks level.

3. Worship over worry

Luke 21:28: when redemption draws near, “lift up your heads.” Faith answers prophecy with praise now.

Living Faith in Today’s Unfolding Story

• The same God who will rearrange Israel’s landscape is sculpting our personal histories.

• Every promise He made about the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:2-4) carries the same certainty as Zechariah 14:10.

• Therefore, faith is not wishful thinking; it is the steady grip on a future God has already mapped, measured, and guaranteed.

How can we apply the assurance of God's promises in our daily lives?
