How to boldly share the Gospel?
In what ways can we courageously share the Gospel despite opposition?

Following Jesus into Hostile Territory

“Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.” (Luke 10:3)

The Lord does not hide the danger; He highlights it. Knowing opposition is certain, He still sends us. Our courage, then, flows not from comfort but from His commission.

Why We Can Be Bold

• Divine Authority – “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go…” (Matthew 28:18-19)

• His Presence – “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

• Spirit-Empowered – “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

Practices that Display Courage

1. Speak the gospel plainly.

– Paul asked, “that I may proclaim it fearlessly, as I should.” (Ephesians 6:19-20)

2. Live a consistent witness.

– “Let your light shine before men.” (Matthew 5:16)

3. Resist intimidation.

– “We must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)

4. Use respectful reasoning.

– “Always be prepared to give a defense… with gentleness and respect.” (1 Peter 3:15)

5. Rely on prayer.

– The early church prayed and “were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.” (Acts 4:31)

6. Accept possible loss.

– “Whoever loses his life for My sake and for the gospel will save it.” (Mark 8:35)

Biblical Models of Courageous Witness

• Peter & John – Bold though “unschooled, ordinary men” because “they had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13)

• Stephen – Spoke truth though stones flew. (Acts 7)

• Paul in chains – His imprisonment made others “dare more to speak the word without fear.” (Philippians 1:14)

Guarding the Heart Against Fear

• Fix on eternal realities: “Do not fear those who kill the body… but fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10:28)

• Saturate in love: “Perfect love drives out fear.” (1 John 4:18)

• Rehearse the promises: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)

Cost and Reward

Opposition may cost comfort, reputation, even life, yet Jesus calls such servants “blessed” (Matthew 5:11-12). The reward of hearing “Well done” outweighs every insult or injury.

Action Steps Today

• Identify one person to whom you will clearly share Jesus this week.

• Memorize Luke 10:3 to remind yourself whose mission you’re on.

• Ask two believers to pray that you’ll speak fearlessly.

• When opposition arises, answer with truth and tenderness, then leave results to God.

How does Luke 10:3 connect with Jesus' teachings on persecution in Matthew 5:10-12?
