How to fit our feet with gospel peace?
How can we practically "fit our feet" with the gospel of peace?

Setting the Scene

“and with your feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace.” (Ephesians 6:15)

Why Footwear Matters

• Roman soldiers laced hobnailed sandals to grip uneven ground, move swiftly, and stay sure-footed in battle.

• Paul borrows the image: the gospel isn’t an accessory; it is the traction that keeps us from slipping when life turns rough.

The Gospel of Peace Defined

• Peace with God — through Christ’s finished work (Romans 5:1).

• Peace within — Christ’s gift of settled hearts (John 14:27).

• Peace toward others — the wall of hostility demolished (Ephesians 2:14–16).

Strapping On Spiritual Footwear Daily

1. Recall the gospel each morning

– “He Himself is our peace” (Ephesians 2:14).

– Preach that truth to your own heart before any news feed.

2. Surrender anxious thoughts

– “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts” (Colossians 3:15).

– Hand worries to Him before they harden into panic.

3. Choose reconciliatory words

– “Pursue peace with everyone” (Hebrews 12:14).

– Speak grace before gossip; bless before blasting.

4. Walk toward broken people, not away

– “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news” (Romans 10:15).

– A knock on a neighbor’s door, a text to a hurting friend, an invitation to coffee—every step carries the gospel.

Practices That Keep the Laces Tight

• Scripture Saturation

– Memorize Philippians 4:6-7; recite it during tension.

• Worship on the Go

– Hum a hymn while commuting; peace sinks in through praise.

• Confession and Repentance

– Unconfessed sin blisters spiritual feet; keep short accounts with God.

• Fellowship

– Stand shoulder to shoulder with believers (Hebrews 10:24-25). Shared peace reinforces readiness.

Handling Rough Terrain

• Conflict

– “If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone” (Romans 12:18). Initiate the hard conversation sooner rather than later.

• Suffering

– Remember Jesus: “In Me you may have peace” (John 16:33). Anchor in His victory when the ground shakes.

• Spiritual Attack

– Counter accusations with the gospel facts: forgiven, justified, loved.

Walking It Out

• Start each day fastening truth: Christ made peace.

• Step into whatever He sets before you, carrying that peace to workplaces, kitchens, classrooms, and checkout lines.

• Finish the day thanking Him for every steady foothold He provided.

Shoes on, heart steady—now move.

Why is readiness important in the spiritual armor described in Ephesians 6:15?
