How to help others follow the Bible?
How can we support others in staying true to biblical teachings?

The Heart of Deuteronomy 13:8

> “you must not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity, and do not spare him or shield him.” (Deuteronomy 13:8)

Stand Firm Against Compromise

- Scripture speaks plainly: loyalty to God is non-negotiable.

- “Yield” and “listen” are active choices; refusing them protects the church from drift (2 John 1:9).

- Holding the line is an act of love, because error destroys (James 5:19-20).

Walk Together in Truth and Grace

- Speak truth in love (Ephesians 4:15)

• Clear, gentle correction keeps both doctrine and relationships intact.

- Refuse gossip or half-truths (Proverbs 10:19).

• Guard conversations so error cannot spread.

- Offer biblical alternatives when someone struggles: “Here’s what God’s Word actually says…” (Psalm 119:105).

Strengthen One Another Daily

- “Encourage one another daily… so none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness” (Hebrews 3:13).

- Practical helps:

• Text a verse of encouragement.

• Meet for regular Bible reading.

• Share testimonies of God’s faithfulness (Psalm 78:4).

Provide Accountable Friendship

- “Iron sharpens iron” (Proverbs 27:17).

- Invite trusted believers to ask tough questions about doctrine and practice.

- Use a mutual agreement: if either of us drifts, the other will lovingly confront (Galatians 6:1).

Guard the Teaching, Guard the People

- “Contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).

- Keep teaching clear and Scripture-saturated.

- Evaluate books, podcasts, and songs by the yardstick of the Word (Acts 17:11).

Live as Examples Worth Following

- “Set an example for the believers in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity” (1 Timothy 4:12).

- A consistent life makes biblical loyalty attractive and credible (Titus 2:7-8).

- Invite others to imitate you as you imitate Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).

In Summary

Supporting others in staying true to biblical teachings means refusing compromise, offering daily encouragement, holding each other accountable, guarding sound doctrine, and modeling wholehearted obedience—just as Deuteronomy 13:8 calls God’s people to do.
