How to inspire trust in God in hardship?
In what ways can we encourage others to trust God during difficult times?

Setting the Scene

2 Chronicles 32:7: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged before the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him.”

King Hezekiah’s words came when Judah faced a siege. His strategy to encourage faith still works today.

Point to God’s Greater Power

• Remind others that size of the opposition never determines the outcome; God does (2 Kings 6:16).

• Share Romans 8:31—“If God is for us, who can be against us?”

• Emphasize that the Lord has not changed (Malachi 3:6); the same God who delivered Judah rules now.

Replace Fear with Facts of Faith

• Name fears honestly, then answer each one with a concrete promise:

– Fear of being overwhelmed → Isaiah 41:10.

– Fear of abandonment → Hebrews 13:5.

• Encourage memorizing and speaking these verses aloud; truth heard becomes truth believed (Romans 10:17).

Speak Courageous Words

• Hezekiah’s phrase “Be strong and courageous” echoes Joshua 1:9; repetition builds courage.

• Use uplifting speech rather than rehearsing worst-case scenarios (Ephesians 4:29).

• Share real testimonies of God’s past faithfulness; stories stick.

Strengthen through Worship and Perspective

• Singing truths like Psalm 46:1 resets focus from enemies to the Almighty.

• Remind that trials are temporary; eternal glory outweighs them all (2 Corinthians 4:17).

Stand Together in Practical Support

• Be physically present; companionship fights discouragement (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).

• Meet material needs where possible (James 2:15-16).

• Send timely Scriptures via text or card; small touches add up.

Model Trust Out Loud

• Let your own calm reliance on God be visible (Philippians 4:6-7).

• Celebrate each answered prayer publicly; thanksgiving multiplies faith (Psalm 118:23-24).

Remember the Outcome

• God defeated Assyria without Judah lifting a sword (2 Chronicles 32:21).

• Share that victory whenever doubt resurfaces: the Lord still delivers.

Living 2 Chronicles 32:7 Together

• Keep the verse in view—on a wall, phone lock-screen, or shared group chat.

• Recite it together when anxiety spikes.

• Encourage one another daily so that hearts stay firm until the storm passes (Hebrews 3:13).
