How to live as a citizen of Christ?
In what ways can you live as a citizen of Christ's kingdom today?

Transferred to the Kingdom—A Present Reality

“For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son.” (Colossians 1:13)

The verb tenses matter: “rescued” and “brought” are completed actions. You already belong to Christ’s kingdom. Living like it means embracing what is already true while anticipating its full revelation.

Identity Shapes Conduct

• You are now “fellow citizens with the saints” (Ephesians 2:19).

• You are “a chosen people, a royal priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9).

• Your allegiance has shifted from the world’s system (1 John 2:15-17) to the reign of Christ.

Daily Practices of Kingdom Citizens

• Submit to the King’s Word

– “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Colossians 3:16).

– Regular, expectant Scripture intake shapes kingdom instincts.

• Pursue Holiness

– “Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord” (Colossians 1:10).

– Put to death what belongs to the earthly nature (Colossians 3:5-10).

– Clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience (Colossians 3:12-14).

• Prioritize Worship

– “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice” (Romans 12:1).

– Gather with the saints; kingdom citizens worship the King together (Hebrews 10:24-25).

• Practice Kingdom Economics

– Hold possessions loosely; share generously (Acts 4:32-35).

– Store up treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21).

• Engage in Prayerful Dependence

– “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

– Prayer aligns your will with the King’s agenda.

Kingdom Relationships

• Forgive as you were forgiven (Ephesians 4:32).

• Speak truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).

• Seek reconciliation quickly; unity displays the kingdom’s power (John 17:21-23).

Kingdom Mission

• Proclaim the King’s good news (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Corinthians 5:20).

• Serve the least, reflecting the King’s heart (Matthew 25:35-40).

• Work diligently in every vocation “as for the Lord” (Colossians 3:23-24), showing His rule over all spheres.

Enduring Kingdom Mindset

• Set your mind on things above, where Christ is seated (Colossians 3:1-2).

• Await “the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13).

• Live with confidence: “Since we are receiving an unshakeable kingdom, let us be filled with gratitude” (Hebrews 12:28).

You’ve been rescued and relocated. Let today’s decisions, priorities, and relationships echo the realm to which you now belong.
