What strategies can we use to avoid limiting God's power in our lives? God’s Power Goes Beyond the Hills 1 Kings 20:23: “Meanwhile, the servants of the king of Aram said to him, ‘Their gods are gods of the hills; that is why they were stronger than we. But if we fight them on the plains, surely we will be stronger than they.’” Their mistake? Shrinking the Almighty down to “hill-country” status. God soon proved He rules every landscape (vv. 28-29). The same danger lives in our hearts whenever we confine what He can do. Where We Still Think Like the Arameans - Limiting God to church services while handling the rest of life ourselves - Trusting Him for eternity but doubting Him for today’s bills or diagnosis - Expecting revival overseas yet settling for spiritual dryness at home - Praying safe, tiny prayers that require no miracle to answer Strategies to Avoid Limiting God’s Power - Immerse in His whole character • Jeremiah 32:17—Nothing is too difficult for Him • Psalm 24:1—He owns every hill and plain - Cultivate faith-filled expectation • Mark 6:5-6—Unbelief stifled miracles in Nazareth • Ephesians 3:20—He can do “infinitely more than all we ask or imagine” - Pray bigger, bolder prayers • Matthew 19:26—“With God all things are possible” • James 4:2—We have not because we ask not - Obey promptly even when terrain changes • 1 Kings 20:28—Israel fought on the plain because God said, “I will deliver this vast army into your hands” • John 2:5—“Do whatever He tells you” releases power - Replace human labels with God’s promises • 2 Corinthians 5:7—Walk by faith, not by sight • Proverbs 3:5-6—Lean not on your own understanding - Remember and rehearse past victories • 1 Samuel 17:37—David recalled the lion and bear before facing Goliath • Revelation 12:11—Testimony overcomes the enemy - Keep worship whole, not compartmentalized • Romans 12:1—Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice; every arena becomes sacred ground • Colossians 3:17—Do everything in Jesus’ name The Difference an Unlimited View Makes - Peace that overrides circumstances - Courage to step onto new “plains” of calling - Overflow that blesses others and draws them to Christ - Glory that returns to the One whose power was never limited—only our vision was |
