How to overcome fear sharing Jesus' work?
How can we overcome fear when sharing what "Jesus had done" for us?

Our Focal Verse

“Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how He has had mercy on you.” (Mark 5:19)

Understanding Fear in Witnessing

• Fear often springs from focusing on ourselves—our reputation, our words, possible rejection.

• The delivered man in Mark 5 had every cultural reason to stay silent, yet Jesus’ command shifted his gaze from past chains to present mercy.

• When Jesus speaks, His authority outweighs any intimidation.

Truths that Remove Fear

• We carry God’s Spirit, not a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7).

• Our testimony is backed by Christ’s mercy and the power of His blood (Revelation 12:11).

• Perfect love—God’s love—drives out fear (1 John 4:18).

• The gospel itself is God’s power; we are simply messengers (Romans 1:16).

Practical Ways to Step Out Boldly

1. Remember Who Goes With You

– “I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

2. Start Where You Are

– The healed man returned “home to [his] own people.” Begin with family, friends, coworkers—those who already know your story.

3. Share What You Know

– He didn’t need a theology degree; he told “how much the Lord has done.” Keep it personal and concrete.

4. Depend on the Spirit’s Power

– “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses.” (Acts 1:8)

5. Keep the Focus on Mercy

– Fear shrinks when gratitude grows. Rehearse His mercy until it overflows naturally in conversation.

6. Anticipate Mixed Responses

– Some marveled; others begged Jesus to leave (Mark 5:17, 20). Obedience, not outcome, is our measure.

Encouragement from Other Scriptures

Psalm 27:1 – The LORD’s protection silences dread.

Acts 4:29–31 – Early believers prayed for boldness and were filled with the Spirit to speak.

1 Corinthians 2:3–5 – Paul admitted weakness so listeners’ faith would rest on God’s power, not human eloquence.

Takeaway for Today

Fear fades as we fix our eyes on Christ’s mercy, rely on His Spirit, and simply tell the story He is writing in us.

Why is it important to share our faith experiences with our community?
