How to practice righteousness locally?
In what ways can we practice righteousness and faithfulness in our community?

Righteousness and Faithfulness: Belt and Sash

“Righteousness will be the belt around His hips, and faithfulness the sash around His waist.” (Isaiah 11:5)

Seeing Christ’s Example

• The Messiah is pictured clothed in righteousness and faithfulness—inseparable, everyday garments.

• His belt and sash never come off; our calling is to dress the same way before a watching world (Ephesians 6:14; Revelation 19:11).

Defining the Virtues

• Righteousness (tsedeq): living in line with God’s standards (Psalm 15; 1 John 3:7).

• Faithfulness ’emunah: consistent reliability, truthfulness, covenant loyalty (Lamentations 3:22-23; Galatians 5:22).

Why They Matter in Community

• They secure trust (Proverbs 20:7).

• They reflect God’s own character (Deuteronomy 32:4).

• They protect the vulnerable and confront injustice (Isaiah 1:17; Micah 6:8).

• They attract others to the gospel (Matthew 5:16; 1 Peter 2:12).
