Why They Matter in Community • They secure trust (Proverbs 20:7). • They reflect God’s own character (Deuteronomy 32:4). • They protect the vulnerable and confront injustice (Isaiah 1:17; Micah 6:8). • They attract others to the gospel (Matthew 5:16; 1 Peter 2:12). Wearing the Belt of Righteousness: Everyday Practices • Personal integrity – Speak truthfully (Ephesians 4:25). – Keep promises, even when costly (Psalm 15:4). • Moral purity – Guard eyes and thoughts (Job 31:1; Philippians 4:8). – Flee immorality, pursue holiness (1 Corinthians 6:18; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4). • Justice in dealings – Pay fair wages, refuse exploitation (James 5:4). – Conduct business transparently (Leviticus 19:35-36). • Compassion toward need – Share food, clothing, shelter (Isaiah 58:6-7; James 2:15-17). – Sponsor or advocate for the fatherless and widow (James 1:27).
