How to prepare for the test hour?
In what ways can we prepare for the "hour of testing"?

Anchoring Our Hearts in the Promise

“Because you have kept My command to persevere, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.” (Revelation 3:10)

• The Lord’s promise is literal and trustworthy.

• Our part is the same as the Philadelphian believers: keep His command to persevere—cling to Him when the pressure mounts.

Cultivating Persevering Faith

• Daily Scripture intake—“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” (Psalm 119:11)

• Intentional prayer—“Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition.” (Ephesians 6:18)

• Regular fellowship—“Let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds, not forsaking the assembly of ourselves together.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

• Practical obedience—“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)

• Pursuit of holiness—“Be holy in all your conduct.” (1 Peter 1:15)

Guarding against Deception

• Jesus warned, “See that no one deceives you.” (Matthew 24:4)

• Test every teaching (1 John 4:1); measure it by the Word.

• Stay alert to subtle compromises that dull spiritual senses (2 Thessalonians 2:3).

Walking in the Spirit’s Power

• “Be filled with the Spirit.” (Ephesians 5:18)

• Consciously yield to His leading; let Him produce His fruit (Galatians 5:22-23).

• Depend on divine strength, not mere resolve (Zechariah 4:6).

Keeping an Eternal Perspective

• “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (Colossians 3:2)

• Earthly trials are “light and momentary, achieving for us an eternal glory.” (2 Corinthians 4:17)

• Detach from worldly allurements that can entangle us (1 John 2:15-17).

Putting On the Full Armor

• “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11)

– Belt of truth

– Breastplate of righteousness

– Shoes of the gospel of peace

– Shield of faith

– Helmet of salvation

– Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God

• Resist the enemy and he must flee (James 4:7).

Holding Fast to the Hope of His Return

• Jesus continues, “I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you have.” (Revelation 3:11)

• The blessed hope inspires purity (1 John 3:3) and courage (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).

• Expect Him at any moment; let that expectancy shape daily choices.

Living as Light in the Darkness

• “Shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life.” (Philippians 2:15-16)

• Good works point others to Christ (Matthew 5:16).

• Be ready to share the reason for your hope (1 Peter 3:15).

Standing Ready—Today and Until He Comes

• Persevere in faith.

• Guard truth.

• Walk by the Spirit.

• Keep eternity in view.

• Wear the armor.

• Hold fast to His imminent return.

Doing these, we prepare now—and He will keep us then—from the hour of testing.
