How to prevent slipping in spirituality?
In what ways can we avoid "slipping" in our spiritual walk today?

Our Core Passage – Psalm 73:2

“But as for me, my feet nearly stumbled; my steps almost slipped.”

Why Slipping Happens

• Focusing on the prosperity of the ungodly (Psalm 73:3).

• Allowing envy, doubt, or discouragement room in the heart (Proverbs 14:30).

• Neglecting God’s presence and perspective (Psalm 73:16-17).

First Anchor – Stay Immersed in Scripture

• Read, hear, and meditate daily; it “is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).

• Apply what you read—obedience cements footing (James 1:22-25).

• Memorize key promises; when temptation strikes, answer with written truth (Matthew 4:4, 7, 10).

Second Anchor – Keep Eyes Fixed on Eternity

• Asaph’s footing returned when he “entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end” (Psalm 73:17).

• Set your mind “on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:1-2).

• Remember that present trials are “light and momentary,” preparing “an eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).

Third Anchor – Cultivate a Worshipful Heart

• Regular corporate worship renews perspective (Hebrews 10:24-25).

• Private praise and thanksgiving shift focus from self to God’s sufficiency (Psalm 100:4).

• Singing truth embeds doctrine in the soul, stabilizing emotion (Colossians 3:16).

Fourth Anchor – Walk in Fellowship and Accountability

• “Two are better than one… If either falls, his companion can lift him up” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).

• Seek mentors who will “speak the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15).

• Confess sin quickly; hidden failure erodes traction (1 John 1:9).

Fifth Anchor – Practice Spirit-Led Prayer

• Continual prayer keeps spiritual reflexes sharp (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

• Ask the Spirit to reveal slippery spots before they trip you (Psalm 139:23-24).

• Pray Scripture back to God—aligns desires with His (John 15:7).

Sixth Anchor – Pursue Virtue Diligently

• Add to faith “goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly affection, and love… for if you practice these things, you will never stumble” (2 Peter 1:5-10).

• Growth is intentional; neglect breeds drift (Hebrews 2:1).

Seventh Anchor – Trust the Keeper of Your Footing

• “He will not allow your foot to slip; your Protector will not slumber” (Psalm 121:3).

• The Lord “makes firm the steps of a man” and “though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, for the LORD is holding his hand” (Psalm 37:23-24).

• Rely on His strength, not your own (Philippians 4:13).

Encouragement for Today

Slippery paths are unavoidable, but stumbling is not. Keep Scripture before your eyes, maintain an eternal perspective, worship fervently, stay accountable, pray without ceasing, grow in virtue, and rest in the steadfast grip of the One who “holds me fast” (Psalm 63:8). Walking this way, your feet may find uneven ground, yet they will not give way.

How does Psalm 17:5 connect with Proverbs 3:5-6 on trusting God?
