How to prioritize Christ daily?
In what ways can we prioritize Christ's preeminence in our daily lives?

Christ’s Supreme Place in Colossians 1:18

“And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and firstborn from among the dead, so that in all things He may have preeminence.”

Recognize Who He Is

• Head of the body—He leads, we follow

• Firstborn from the dead—our hope of resurrection

• “In all things He may have preeminence”—no corner of life is exempt

Center Your Identity on Him

• Daily remind yourself: “I have been crucified with Christ…” (Galatians 2:20)

• Measure success by alignment with His character, not culture’s scoreboard

• Speak truth over yourself: loved, redeemed, commissioned

Let Christ Shape Every Decision

• “Trust in the LORD with all your heart…He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

• Before commitments, ask: “Will this magnify Christ’s worth or diminish it?”

• Filter career, relationships, and finances through Matthew 6:33—“Seek first the kingdom of God”

Devote Daily Habits to His Honor

Scripture

– Let “the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Colossians 3:16)

– Memorize and meditate; turn truths into worship throughout the day

Prayer

– Start and end each day acknowledging His rule

– Intercede for others so self-focus shrinks

Worship

– Sing while commuting; thank Him at meals; praise Him aloud in quiet moments

Guard Your Heart from Rivals

• Identify subtle idols—comfort, approval, technology

• Practice fasting from anything that competes with affection for Christ

• “Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” (1 John 5:21)

Live in Gospel Community

• Submit to biblically faithful teaching—He rules His church through His Word

• Use gifts to serve the body (1 Peter 4:10-11) so His glory, not ours, is displayed

• Welcome accountability; it keeps Christ, not self, on the throne

Offer Your Whole Life as Worship

• “Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)

• Ordinary tasks—laundry, spreadsheets, parenting—become sacrifices of praise (Romans 12:1-2)

• Celebrate His faithfulness publicly; testimony exalts His supremacy

Abide and Bear Fruit

• “Apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

• Consistent abiding produces love, joy, peace—visible evidence of His reigning presence

• Fruitfulness directs onlookers to the true Vine, giving Him the spotlight

Keep Eternity in View

Philippians 3:8—count all else loss compared to knowing Christ

• Anticipate the day every knee bows (Philippians 2:9-11); live now as willing worshipers

• Store treasures in heaven, not earth, proving He is your ultimate treasure

Living this way places Christ exactly where Colossians 1:18 says He belongs—first in everything, every day.

How does Colossians 1:18 connect with Ephesians 1:22-23 about Christ's supremacy?
