How to recall God's past deliverances?
What actions can we take to remember God's past deliverances in our lives?

The Red Sea Deliverance: Anchoring Our Memory

“That day the LORD saved Israel from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the shore.” (Exodus 14:30)

God’s dramatic rescue left an unforgettable imprint on Israel. The event itself became a standing testimony that the Lord intervenes powerfully and personally for His people. Remembering that truth fuels present-day trust and obedience.

Why Forgetfulness Weakens Faith

• When Israel later grumbled in the wilderness, it was because they “forgot His works” (Psalm 106:13).

• Forgetting blinds us to God’s proven character and opens the door to fear, compromise, and self-reliance.

• Deliberate remembrance, therefore, is not optional—it is a spiritual safeguard.

Practical Ways to Remember God’s Past Deliverances

1. Set Up Visible Memorials

Joshua 4:6-7—twelve stones from the Jordan became a standing memorial.

• Action step: place a symbolic object in your home or workspace that instantly reminds you of a specific rescue or answer to prayer.

2. Keep a Written Record

Psalm 102:18—“Let this be written for a future generation.”

• Action step: maintain a journal, date each entry, and revisit earlier pages to watch faithfulness unfold over time.

3. Celebrate Anniversaries of Rescue

Esther 9:27-28—Purim established as an annual celebration of deliverance.

• Action step: mark the calendar on the day God healed, provided, or protected. Celebrate that date each year with family worship and thanksgiving.

4. Teach the Next Generation

Deuteronomy 6:20-21—when children ask, parents recount how “the LORD brought us out of Egypt.”

• Action step: tell your children (or spiritual sons and daughters) the full story—fear, doubt, prayer, and God’s breakthrough—so they inherit living history, not abstract doctrine.

5. Name the Place of Victory

1 Samuel 7:12—Samuel sets up Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the LORD has helped us.”

• Action step: give a memorable name to the location or season of deliverance; speak of it by that name in conversation and prayer.

6. Embed Remembrance in Worship

Psalm 77:11—“I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember Your wonders of old.”

• Action step: include specific testimonies in congregational praise reports and personal worship playlists.

7. Break Bread with Purpose

Luke 22:19—“Do this in remembrance of Me.”

• Action step: whenever you take Communion, intentionally call to mind not only the cross but also how the risen Christ has intervened personally for you.

8. Speak It Out Loud

Malachi 3:16—those who feared the LORD “spoke with one another,” and He had a scroll of remembrance written.

• Action step: share testimonies in small groups, phone calls, social media posts. Spoken memory multiplies faith.

Living Daily in the Light of Deliverance

Remembered victories turn into daily courage. By rehearsing what God has already done, we stand ready for fresh Red Sea moments—confident that the same Lord who saved Israel “that day” is still parting waters today.
