Actions That Keep Us from Despising His Counsel

• Walk in humility before Him (Isaiah 66:2, “These are the ones I will esteem: the humble and contrite in spirit, who tremble at My word.”)

• Read, meditate on, and store up Scripture daily (Psalm 119:11, “I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.”)

• Be doers, not hearers only (James 1:22, “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Otherwise, you deceive yourselves.”)

• Cultivate the fear of the LORD (Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”)

• Keep a soft heart whenever He speaks (Hebrews 3:15, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts, as you did in the rebellion.”)

• Let Christ’s word dwell richly among you (Colossians 3:16, “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you…”)

• Examine everything in the light of Scripture (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:19-21)

• Seek and heed godly counsel (Proverbs 11:14, “For lack of guidance, a nation falls, but with many counselors comes deliverance.”)

• Stay committed to gathered worship and mutual encouragement (Hebrews 10:24-25)

• Maintain continual gratitude and trust (Psalm 34:8, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.”)
