How to secure our names in the book of life?
How can we ensure our names are written in the "book of life"?

Facing the Verse Head-On

- Revelation 20:15 warns, “If anyone's name was not found in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”

- Nothing is more urgent than knowing that our names are already written in that heavenly record.

What Is the Book of Life?

- God’s permanent registry of those who belong to Him (Philippians 4:3, Revelation 21:27).

- Jesus calls it “the Lamb’s book of life” (Revelation 13:8), anchoring it to His saving work.

- The record is personal—“rejoice that your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20).

Entering the Book: Faith in Christ Alone

- John 3:16 starts it all: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…”

“…so that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

- Salvation is “by grace…through faith…not of works” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

- Romans 10:9 adds, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart…you will be saved.”

- The moment we trust Christ, our names are recorded; no additional merit buys entry.

Repentance: Turning Toward the Savior

- Authentic faith is inseparable from repentance—turning away from self-rule and sin (Acts 3:19).

- This isn’t earning salvation; it’s the heart’s response to God’s grace.

Living Proof: Evidences a Name Is Written

- A new heart that loves God’s Word (1 John 2:3-5).

- Ongoing victory over sinful patterns (1 John 3:9).

- Active love for fellow believers (John 13:35).

- Growing desire to serve and witness (Matthew 5:16).

These are not prerequisites for entry; they are signs that the entry has already been granted.

Perseverance: Guarding Against a Blotted Name

- Jesus promises, “He who overcomes will be clothed in white garments” (Revelation 3:5a).

- He continues, “and I will never blot his name from the book of life” (Revelation 3:5b).

- True believers endure; the Spirit keeps them pressing on (Philippians 1:6).

- Ongoing faith, obedience, and reliance on grace confirm we are His (Colossians 1:23).

Encouragement for Today

- Your confidence rests on Christ’s finished work, not your flawless performance (Hebrews 10:14).

- Keep trusting, keep turning from sin, keep walking in love—these daily steps echo a deeper reality: your name is already safely inscribed in the book that lasts forever.
