In what ways can we share the wonder of God's works with others? Marvel Noted, Marvel Shared “This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.” (Psalm 118:23) Why marvel? •Because the Lord Himself authored the work—“the LORD’s doing.” •Because the work is objectively “marvelous,” worthy of open-mouthed wonder. •Because the verse assumes the marvel is visible—“in our eyes”—and therefore meant to be shown to other eyes as well. Let Marvel Turn Into Message Scripture never lets amazement stay private: •“Come and see the works of God.” (Psalm 66:5) •“Go home… tell how much the Lord has done for you.” (Mark 5:19; Luke 8:39) •“We cannot help but speak about what we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:20) Marvel, then, is the springboard for testimony. Practical Pathways to Spread the Wonder 1. Everyday Testimony •Share personal stories of answered prayer, rescue, or provision. •Keep the spotlight on God’s initiative—“the LORD’s doing.” 2. Scripture-Saturated Conversation •Let “the word of Christ dwell in you richly” so it flows out naturally (Colossians 3:16). •Quote and explain verses that display God’s power—Psalm 145:4-7 models rehearsing His acts across generations. 3. Family Discipleship •Teach children “diligently” at home and on the way (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). •Retell biblical accounts—crossing the Red Sea, the resurrection—so kids grow up saying, “This is the LORD’s doing!” 4. Corporate Worship •Sing “psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs” that recount God’s mighty deeds (Colossians 3:16). •Public reading of Scripture lets the whole church see the wonder together (1 Timothy 4:13). 5. Creative Arts •Paint, compose music, write poetry that echoes “He has done glorious things” (Isaiah 12:5). •Display art in homes, churches, and public spaces to prompt gospel conversations. 6. Acts of Service •Good works done “that they may see… and glorify your Father” (Matthew 5:16). •When asked why you serve, point to the God whose love compelled the cross. 7. Nature Walks and Science Talks •Guide others to notice how “the heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1; Romans 1:20). •Connect observable design to the Designer’s character—order, beauty, power. 8. Digital Presence •Post Scripture graphics, testimonies, or short videos recounting God’s interventions. •Use humility and accuracy; let content amplify, not eclipse, the Lord. 9. Hospitality •Invite neighbors for a meal; weave in stories of God’s works like the early believers “breaking bread with gladness” (Acts 2:46-47). •Marvel shared over a table often lands deeper than marvel shouted from a platform. 10. Generational Mentoring •Senior saints tell God’s faithfulness to younger believers: “One generation will commend Your works to the next” (Psalm 145:4). •Younger believers then carry the torch forward, keeping the cycle alive. The Unstoppable Echo We “proclaim the virtues of Him who called” us (1 Peter 2:9) until the earth is filled with the knowledge of His glory (Habakkuk 2:14). Each time we recount “the LORD’s doing,” we extend the echo of Psalm 118:23—turning private marvel into public praise. |
