How can we testify to Jesus' reality in our daily lives today? Starting with Eyewitness Confidence “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have touched—this is the Word of life.” (1 John 1:1) John grabbed hold of Jesus with every sense—ears, eyes, hands. His certainty fuels ours. The more personally we engage Christ, the more naturally we testify to His reality. Hearing: Let Scripture Fill Our Ears • Carve out daily listening space—read aloud, play an audio Bible, sing truth-rich songs. • “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17) • Rehearse verses while driving, exercising, or cooking; the Word lodged in the mind slips out in conversation. • Share what you’re hearing: “I was listening to John this morning and…”—simple, genuine openings point friends to a living Savior. Seeing: Reflect His Light Publicly • “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) • Practice visible gratitude—thank a coworker, praise God for small wins. • Keep a Bible or verse card on the desk; subtle cues spark questions. • Celebrate answered prayer on social media; credit Jesus, not luck. Touching: Offer Tangible Care • John touched Jesus; we touch people Jesus loves. • “But if anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need and has no compassion… how can the love of God abide in him?” (1 John 3:17) • Deliver a meal, babysit for free, fix a neighbor’s faucet—testimony in sleeves-rolled-up form. • Physical presence at hospitals, funerals, ballgames speaks louder than words about the nearness of Christ. Speaking: Share Firsthand Stories • “We cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:20) • Keep it simple—“Here’s how Jesus steadied me during that diagnosis.” • Use everyday language, avoid churchy jargon; let sincerity carry the weight. • 1 Peter 3:15 reminds: be ready to explain the hope within, “with gentleness and respect.” Living: Consistency That Confirms the Message • “Whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.” (Colossians 3:17) • Align entertainment choices, business ethics, and family tone with Scripture. • When you blow it, confess quickly and openly; repentance testifies that Jesus is real and still shaping you. • Cultivate joy—Paul in prison could sing (Acts 16:25). Joy in hard spots signals supernatural reality. Linking Our Story to His Eternal Beginning • John points back “from the beginning.” Our daily witness points forward—same unchanging Christ, same Word of life. • The more we absorb His historical reality, the more our present lives echo it. • Each act of hearing, seeing, touching, speaking, and living becomes a modern echo of apostolic testimony, inviting others to encounter the Word made flesh. |
