Joining God's work in Obadiah 1:21?
How can we participate in God's kingdom work as described in Obadiah 1:21?

Setting the Scene

“ ‘Saviors will ascend Mount Zion to rule over the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom will belong to the LORD.’ ” (Obadiah 1:21)

Obadiah pictures a day when the LORD’s chosen “saviors” (deliverers) rise up, evil is judged, and every realm is brought under God’s rightful rule. That snapshot is both a promise and an invitation. We are called to step into that kingdom momentum now, even as we await its final fulfillment.

Who Are the “Saviors” in View?

• Old Testament: God repeatedly raised human deliverers—Joseph in Egypt, Moses in the Exodus, the judges in Israel—to rescue His people.

• Ultimate fulfillment: Jesus, the true Deliverer, “will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).

• Ongoing application: All who belong to Christ are enlisted as His representatives—“a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign upon the earth” (Revelation 5:10).

What Kingdom Work Looks Like

• Deliverance: Announcing and demonstrating the gospel that frees people from sin (Romans 1:16).

• Justice: Confronting oppression and caring for the vulnerable (Micah 6:8; Isaiah 1:17).

• Restoration: Building up broken lives, families, and communities (Isaiah 61:1–4).

• Worship: Calling every heart to acknowledge that “the kingdom will belong to the LORD” (Obadiah 1:21).

Practical Ways to Join the Mission

• Share the good news—personally, publicly, digitally—so that others can be rescued from darkness (Colossians 1:13).

• Disciple and mentor believers, equipping them to live under Christ’s lordship (Matthew 28:19-20).

• Use vocational skills and resources to push back spiritual and physical poverty.

• Intercede for nations and leaders, partnering with heaven’s authority (1 Timothy 2:1-4).

• Model righteousness in daily conduct, proving that Christ’s reign changes everything (Philippians 2:14-16).

• Support global missions, church planting, and Bible translation, extending the reach of the Word (Acts 13:47).

• Engage culture with truth and grace, “holding to the testimony of Jesus” (Revelation 12:17).

• Anticipate the future reign by living with hope, courage, and joyful obedience (2 Timothy 2:12).

Guardrails for Fruitful Participation

• Stay anchored to Scripture—the sure, unchanging guide (Psalm 19:7).

• Depend on the Holy Spirit for power and discernment (Acts 1:8).

• Keep Christ’s supremacy central; all authority belongs to Him (Matthew 28:18).

• Serve in humility, knowing deliverance comes from the LORD, not human strength (Psalm 33:16-17).

Living in Certain Hope

Daniel 7:27 promises, “Then the sovereignty, dominion, and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be given to the people—the saints of the Most High.” That verse echoes Obadiah’s vision and assures us that every act of obedience now is woven into God’s unstoppable plan. The kingdom will belong to the LORD; participating in that reality today is both our privilege and our calling.

How does Obadiah 1:21 connect with Revelation's depiction of God's ultimate kingdom?
