Lesson on obedience from Exodus 10:6?
What lesson can we learn about obedience from Exodus 10:6?

Setting the Scene

Pharaoh has repeatedly hardened his heart against God’s command to let Israel go. After seven devastating plagues, Moses stands before him again, warning of an unprecedented locust invasion if he still refuses.

The Verse Under the Microscope

“‘They will fill your houses and the houses of all your officials and of every Egyptian—something your fathers and grandfathers have never seen since the day they came to this land until now.’ Then Moses turned and left Pharaoh’s presence.” (Exodus 10:6)

What This Teaches About Obedience

• God’s word is non-negotiable. When He speaks, obedience is the only safe response (Deuteronomy 28:1–2).

• Delayed obedience hardens the heart. Every time Pharaoh said “not yet,” his resistance grew stronger (Hebrews 3:15).

• Disobedience spreads its fallout. Pharaoh’s refusal threatens “houses… officials… every Egyptian,” showing sin’s ripple effect on families, workplaces, and nations (Romans 5:19).

• Warnings are merciful. God announces judgment before it falls, giving space to repent (Ezekiel 33:11).

• The longer we resist, the greater the cost. Each plague intensifies, underscoring that partial or temporary compliance is not obedience (1 Samuel 15:22–23).

Living It Out

• Respond quickly to God’s promptings—don’t negotiate, postpone, or redefine what He asks.

• Guard the influence you carry; your choices affect everyone under your leadership or care.

• Treat divine warnings—whether through Scripture, counsel, or conviction—as gifts, not threats.

• Remember that obedience is love in action: “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments” (John 14:15).
