NT teachings echo Job 15:30 warnings?
Which New Testament teachings align with the warnings in Job 15:30?

Job’s Sobering Warning

“He will not escape from darkness; the flame will wither his shoots, and by the breath of God’s mouth he will depart.” (Job 15:30)

Darkness That No One Can Outrun

John 3:19–20 — “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil.”

1 Thessalonians 5:3–4 — Sudden destruction surprises those “in darkness.”

Jude 13 — The ungodly wanderers receive “the blackest darkness” forever.

These texts echo Job’s picture: a life set on a path that ends in inescapable gloom.

Fire That Withers the Fruitless

John 15:6 — “If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire and burned.”

Hebrews 10:27 — “A fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the adversaries of God.”

2 Thessalonians 1:8–9 — The Lord will inflict “vengeance in flaming fire” on those who do not obey the gospel.

Revelation 20:14–15 — The final lake of fire for all whose names are not in the Book of Life.

Job’s “flame” finds its New Testament counterpart in the fiery judgment promised to the unrepentant.

The Breath That Sweeps Away the Defiant

2 Thessalonians 2:8 — The Lord Jesus “will slay [the lawless one] with the breath of His mouth and annihilate him by the majesty of His arrival.”

Revelation 19:15 — “From His mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations.”

Hebrews 4:12 — The living, active Word cuts and lays bare every heart.

Just as the breath of God’s mouth expels the wicked in Job, the New Testament shows Christ’s spoken Word executing final judgment.

Living in the Light and Life of Christ

Colossians 1:13 — God “has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son.”

1 John 1:7 — “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

1 Peter 1:3–5 — A new birth into a living hope, kept by God’s power for salvation.

These passages show the only escape from darkness, flame, and judgment: repentance and steady trust in the risen Christ, whose light overcomes the night and whose life bears fruit that endures.
