Psalm 100:3: God's Creator, Shepherd role?
How does Psalm 100:3 affirm God's role as our Creator and Shepherd?

Stepping into Psalm 100:3

“Know that the LORD is God. It is He who has made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.” (Psalm 100:3)

God the Maker: His Creative Authority

• “It is He who has made us” anchors the verse in the opening truth of Genesis: “So God created man in His own image.” (Genesis 1:27)

• Creation is not abstract; the LORD personally “formed the earth and created man on it.” (Isaiah 45:12)

• Paul echoes the same certainty: “The God who made the world and all things in it… gives to everyone life and breath and everything else.” (Acts 17:24–25)

• Because God literally fashioned us, He holds absolute authority over our existence, purpose, and destiny.

We Belong: Covenant Ownership

• “We are His” moves from fact to relationship. The Creator claims what He created.

• Israel heard it first: “For you are a people holy to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His treasured possession.” (De 7:6)

• David responds in worship: “Come, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. For He is our God.” (Psalm 95:6–7a)

• New-covenant believers hear the same call: “You are not your own; you were bought at a price.” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20)

Shepherd of the Sheep: His Tender Care

• “We are… the sheep of His pasture” paints the LORD as both Owner and Caregiver.

Psalm 23 unfolds that care—provision, guidance, protection—under the Shepherd’s staff.

• Through Ezekiel God promises, “I Myself will tend My sheep and make them lie down… I will seek the lost, bring back the strays, bind up the broken.” (Ezekiel 34:11–16)

• Jesus fulfills the theme: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)

Living the Truth Today

• Confidence in worship—Our Creator invites grateful praise rather than distant fear.

• Steadfast identity—We are not accidents; we are handcrafted, claimed, and loved.

• Trust in provision—The Shepherd’s pasture is rich enough for every need.

• Willing obedience—Sheep follow the voice they know; we heed His Word with readiness.

• Secure hope—If the One who made us guides us, no circumstance outranks His care.
