Reflect Zion's glory daily: how?
How can we reflect the glory of Zion in our daily lives?

An opening snapshot of Psalm 87:3

“Glorious things are said of you, O city of God. Selah”

Psalm 87 celebrates Zion—Jerusalem, the earthly city chosen by God, and a prophetic picture of the heavenly city still to come (Hebrews 12:22; Revelation 21:2). Because every believer is now part of this “city of the Living God,” we’re invited to let Zion’s glory shape ordinary life.

Why Zion’s glory matters today

• God’s dwelling: Zion hosted the temple; today His Spirit dwells in us (1 Corinthians 3:16).

• God’s story: Zion’s walls carried the promises of redemption; our lives now carry that testimony (1 Peter 2:9).

• God’s future: Zion points ahead to the New Jerusalem; our hope fuels perseverance (Hebrews 11:10).

Reflecting Zion through worshipful words

• Speak “glorious things” about God wherever you are.

• Let gratitude become your native language (Psalm 34:1).

• Share testimonies of His faithfulness; Zion’s glory was proclaimed aloud (Isaiah 60:6).

Reflecting Zion through a life set apart

• Guard holiness—God’s city was consecrated ground (Psalm 2:6).

• Choose purity in thoughts, media, relationships (Philippians 4:8).

• Remember your body is a temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Reflecting Zion through fellowship and unity

• Zion gathered tribes together; pursue harmony in the church (Psalm 133:1).

• Forgive quickly; nurture brotherly love (Colossians 3:13-14).

• Serve one another with practical help (Galatians 5:13).

Reflecting Zion through justice and mercy

• God promised, “Zion will be redeemed with justice” (Isaiah 1:27).

• Advocate for the vulnerable—orphans, widows, strangers (James 1:27).

• Conduct business with integrity; refuse exploitation (Proverbs 11:1).

Reflecting Zion through joyful witness

• “Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth” (Psalm 50:2).

• Radiate joy that makes people ask for the reason of your hope (1 Peter 3:15).

• Bless your neighborhood: kindness, hospitality, gospel conversations (Isaiah 52:7).

Reflecting Zion through steadfast hope

• Hold loosely to earthly comforts, “for here we do not have a permanent city” (Hebrews 13:14).

• Encourage one another with the promise of Jesus’ return (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).

• Let eternal perspective shape daily priorities—time, finances, ambitions (Matthew 6:19-21).

Putting it together

Each act of worship, holiness, unity, mercy, witness, and hope becomes a stone in the living city God is building (Ephesians 2:19-22). As we walk this way, the glory once localized in Zion breaks out through our lives, drawing others to the King whose throne is established there forever (Psalm 132:13-14).
