Use Esther's courage in today's challenges?
How can we apply Esther's courage and faith in our own challenges today?

Setting the Scene

Esther stands in a hostile empire, one decree away from annihilation. Her decision to approach the king—uninvited—puts her life on the line. Yet God’s unseen hand guides every twist of the story until, in Esther 9:25, the tables are turned:

“But when it came before the king, he issued this written order: that the evil scheme Haman had devised against the Jews should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.” (Esther 9:25)

What Courage Looks Like

• Esther’s courage is deliberate, not reckless; she prays, fasts, seeks wise counsel (Esther 4:15–16).

• She steps forward at the God-appointed moment (Esther 5:1–2), trusting divine timing.

• Her faith holds even when the outcome is uncertain; she says, “If I perish, I perish” (Esther 4:16).

Connecting the Dots with Other Scriptures

Joshua 1:9—“Be strong and courageous… for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Psalm 27:14—“Wait for the LORD; be strong and courageous.”

Acts 4:13—Peter and John display boldness because they “had been with Jesus.”

Living Out Esther’s Example Today

1. Identify Your “Such a Time as This”

• Ask: Where has God placed me to influence, protect, or bless others?

• Refuse to downplay small assignments; Esther was “just” a queen’s servant until God used her position.

2. Prepare with Prayer and Wise Counsel

• Follow Esther’s pattern of fasting and unified prayer (Esther 4:15–17).

• Seek believers who will stand with you; courage grows in community (Hebrews 10:24–25).

3. Step into Risk with Trust

• Like Esther, act even when the path feels dangerous.

• Remember God’s sovereignty: if He can reverse Haman’s edict, He can overturn any plot against His people (Romans 8:31).

4. Speak Up for the Vulnerable

• Esther uses her voice to defend those who cannot speak for themselves (Proverbs 31:8–9).

• Apply this by advocating for the unborn, the persecuted, the overlooked in your neighborhood.

5. Celebrate God’s Deliverance

• Purim became an annual reminder that God rescues (Esther 9:26–28).

• Mark your own “mini-Purims”: journal, testify, or gather friends to recount answered prayers (Psalm 136:1).

Faith’s Ripple Effect

• Esther’s stand inspires Mordecai, energizes the Jewish community, and influences royal policy.

• Your obedience may spark courage in coworkers, family members, or entire churches (Philippians 1:14).

Encouragement for the Week

Take one step of bold obedience God has placed before you—make the call, share the gospel, defend the weak. Trust that the same God who reversed Haman’s decree can still turn evil schemes on their own heads and write deliverance into your story.

In what ways does Esther 9:25 connect to Romans 8:28 about God's plans?
