Ways to honor God with offerings today?
How can we honor God with our "most holy offerings" today?

Setting the Scene

Numbers 18:9: “The following shall be yours, most holy offerings reserved from the fire: every offering, including every grain offering, sin offering, and guilt offering that the Israelites present to Me. These belong to you and your sons as a most holy portion.”

In Israel, “most holy offerings” were the choicest gifts, wholly devoted to the Lord and handled only by consecrated priests. Though temple sacrifices have been fulfilled in Christ, the principle of setting apart our very best for God stands unchanged.

Understanding “Most Holy Offerings”

• Reserved exclusively for God’s honor

• Handled with reverence and purity

• Consumed by priests—those set apart for service

• Symbolized wholehearted devotion and gratitude

Translating Ancient Practice into Present Faithfulness

Jesus, our High Priest (Hebrews 4:14), became the once-for-all sacrifice (Hebrews 10:10). Now every believer is a “royal priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9), called to bring spiritual offerings that reflect the same “most holy” quality: the first, the finest, the fully surrendered.

Practical Ways to Present Our Most Holy Offerings

• Personal consecration—“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God” (Romans 12:1).

• Financial generosity—“Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your harvest” (Proverbs 3:9).

• Time and talents—setting apart prime hours, not leftovers, for worship, service, and discipling others.

• Words of praise—“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise” (Hebrews 13:15).

• Compassion giving—sharing resources with those in need; “with such sacrifices God is pleased” (Hebrews 13:16).

• Gospel advancement—supporting missions so that more people become worshipers, our greatest gift to Him (Philippians 4:18).

• Pursuit of holiness—renouncing sin and guarding purity of mind, body, and spirit (2 Corinthians 7:1).

Guarding the Heart behind the Offering

• Sincerity over show—Matthew 6:3-4

• Gratitude over obligation—2 Corinthians 9:7

• Excellence over mediocrity—Malachi 1:8

• Faith over fear—Malachi 3:10

• Joy over duty—Psalm 100:2

Encouraging Scriptures to Strengthen Commitment

• “Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men.” (Colossians 3:23)

• “Each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace.” (1 Peter 4:10)

• “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse… Test Me in this,” says the LORD of Hosts. (Malachi 3:10)

• “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” (2 Corinthians 9:6)

Summary Challenge

Set apart the best of your resources, abilities, and affection as a “most holy offering” to the Lord. In doing so, you mirror the ancient pattern, honor Christ’s finished work, and declare that He is worthy of everything you treasure.
