How can we "return to the Almighty" in our daily lives today? The Call to Return “ If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored…” (Job 22:23) Recognize the Drift • Admit where thoughts, attitudes, or habits have pulled you away (Psalm 139:23-24). • Allow God’s Word to expose hidden compromises (Hebrews 4:12). Repentance: Turning Back • Confess specific sins plainly—no excuses (1 John 1:9). • Turn from them decisively; repentance is change, not merely regret (Isaiah 55:7). Clean House: Removing Injustice Job 22:23 continues, “If you remove injustice from your tents…” • Settle relational wrongs, repay debts, make restitution where needed (Luke 19:8-9). • Purge entertainment, conversations, and business practices that dishonor Christ (Ephesians 5:11). • Cultivate fairness and mercy in your home and workplace (Micah 6:8). Draw Near Daily • Unhurried Scripture reading—listen before speaking (Joshua 1:8). • Prayer that is honest, worshipful, and expectant (Psalm 62:8). • Regular fasting or solitude to refocus when distractions crowd in (Matthew 6:17-18). Walk in Obedience • Act promptly on what God shows you—partial obedience is disobedience (James 1:22). • Serve in the local church; gifts grow as they’re used (1 Peter 4:10). • Practice generosity; giving loosens the grip of self-reliance (2 Corinthians 9:7). Guard the Heart • Keep short accounts—confess sin as soon as the Spirit convicts (Proverbs 28:13). • Choose companions who stir up love and good works (Hebrews 10:24-25). • Memorize and meditate on verses that target your weak points (Psalm 119:11). Live Restored • Peace replaces turmoil (Philippians 4:7). • Joy strengthens witness (Nehemiah 8:10). • Confidence grows: “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8). |
